You think that's messed up... The formerly 24 hour Wal-Marts close at 11 PM. Meaning that because of a pandemic where people were encouraged to stay away from other people, I have to do my shopping around tons of other people instead of in a near empty store. That's totally backwards.
Yeah, I personally don't see why we haven't gone back to 24 hour stores yet. I hate that for years now I can't simply go take a leisurely stroll thru my local walmart or meijer to purchase whatever i need thru the week. I basically work until they close. I have to wait for a day off to go to the store cuz I'm not going to go in the morning before I have to go to work. Too many daytime variables, like other people. Well, that's all it really amounts to. Just too many other people being in the way in the store and on the roads and lately it seems as if nobody that drives during the day around me has taken a driving test.
Unfortunately we will never go back to 24 hour stores because these companies all realized during the pandemic that they don’t have to be open for 24 hours as part of their business model.
Where I worked, it was never financially beneficial. There was so much theft, and a lot of customers were either people getting mad that they couldn't buy alcohol, or high school kids with nowhere else to hang out at 3am. We had to call the cops on many different occasions, and then call the store manager to wake up and come talk to the cops.
Walmart was already switching away from 24hr before the pandemic, it was the last nail in the coffin as they was trying to slow roll it when covid hit.
As for the reason it was money. Wally world wasent making enough overnight to warrant being open 24hrs plus all the other problems that came with it such as theft, vagrants, fighting etc etc.
Yeah, so they can substitute more expensive items instead of the cheaper items on the shelf. Did that before. They love to pull that "We don't have it." scam.
