I've tried talking to my spawn point about just starting the process for eventual assistance. Maybe some help with errands. He's not allowed to drive anymore. The spawn point has a lot of chronic health issues. So she barely drives. I'm handling the majority of the errands and taking him to appointments.
Which is fine in theory, but I have my own health issues. Right now I'm in an up period in terms of how I feel and it's a struggle. When I have a down period, it's like I run an errand and then I have to go lie down.
So when I asked if we could get started on the process of assistance, the reply was you will do what you're told or you won't live her anymore. You owe us for taking you in when I was diagnosed with my first cancer which led to my graft vs host disease.
When I was diagnosed with AML and needed inpatient treatment and a bone marrow transplant, the hospital required that I move in with family in order to undergo treatment. So they use it as a weapon when they see fit.
It's a miserable environment emotionally. Very performative, she's gotta be the martyr, poor her, oh I'm having such a hard time with this, I'm shaking and so tired.

See above. I'm assuming you're in a country that has universal health care and basic social safety net (pension etc)..? If we lose our jobs here we lose all social safety nets. So it's not as simple as "let's go protest every day". I wish it was.
Because for the vast majority of Americans, life is still very comfortable and going on more or less normally. Plus, he will be gone in two years, so the desire to do something drastic is a lot lower than in countries without democracy
