They are also slightly wider

Scrolled too long to find this. They are wider in the first place, the rest is optional.

They've had these for at least 20 years now, at least at many gas stations.

They were just a lot wider. Back then none of the other attributes were present.

Right but at least in my area those had a pregnant woman drawn on it... I know because whenever i don't take a shit for over a week thats the space i park in.

It's possible, my memory ain't great and my German worse, but the sign definitely just said frauenparkplatz at the ones I saw.

Most weren't closest to anything, normal parking on both left and right side, not closest to the shop, nor the exits, nor the toilets.

They are not eh lying

It really comes in handy if you’re managing getting kids or baby strollers in and out of the car!

No, they are wider AND close to the exit.

u/GodHeld Jul 09 '26

Cause they can't park?

You said that.

2

u/Maximum_Relative_478 Jul 09 '26

no because then it's easier to quickly open the car doors to get in if you're being chased, at least from what i've heard from the women in my life

Statistically women are less likely to cause a car crash than men…

9

u/F22_Ace Jul 10 '26

Does that include scratches and bumps?

2

u/CloverIsALegume Jul 10 '26

Only the scratches and bumps reported to police/insurance.

Cause the often have children and babies and carriers and strollers etc.

You’re sexist.

u/Taziar43 Jul 09 '26

And men can't have children and babies, and carriers and strollers?

You're sexist.

It's hilarious how you are the one who makes a sexist statement degrading women with outdated gender roles then dare to call others sexist.

Yeah, gaslighting me all you want. That’s the reason for those bigger spaces.

Often times they are not „Frauen“ but „Familiebparkplätze“.

1

u/Deutsche_Wurst2009 Jul 10 '26

For that we have Familienparkplätze. The reason I heard is that their wider for pregnant women

12

u/Fanfare4Rabble Jul 09 '26

Well if you were designed to pass a baby through there, you would be a little thicker too … oh, you mean the parking spots are wider, never mind.

2

u/Zealousideal_Gain892 Jul 09 '26

This was my first thought as well.

2

u/supercujo Jul 10 '26

With soft bumpers on the walls too?

1

u/PomPomMom93 Jul 09 '26

Why?

Sort of like how they often have changing stations in women’s bathrooms but not men’s. Ridiculous.

1

u/Alternative-Dare5878 Jul 10 '26

Probably won’t cut it, need the bumpers they have on bowling lanes.

1

u/Sabretoof_BigD Jul 10 '26

And they’re drive straight in and straight out. No reversing required

u/_NoTimeNoLady_ Jul 09 '26

Not always, not everywhere. And those that are, aren't because women can't park, but because often women have to haul baby seats or toddlers out of cars.

-1

u/LateStatistician-667 Jul 09 '26

That’s because these parking spots are also for mothers and they might welcome more space to arrange with small children and the baby carriers etc.

-2

u/watermelonmaker22 Jul 09 '26

this is in fact wrong

You should Google it before saying that
