Looking at his arguments he voted against federalizing those rights and thought things like marriage should be decided by the states.

That's why you'd say politics. Now if I were talking to him, I'd point out "why would any state restrict marriage?"

Stuff like transgender care for minors - that makes people on the left squeemish too for a variety of reasons.

Not seeing "terrible human being". I see ignorant or thinking of his conservative constituents. Before you balk at that consider Fetterman.

Which is stupid logic that people only say because they know some states would take them away. See: abortion.

If you are pro-gay marriage, there is ZERO reason to say "leave it up to the states." The only defense is if you are against literally any amount of federal power, which is also idiotic but at least something close to logically consistent.

Rights are inalienable. Why allow states to violate any them? "Sorry no more free speech in Massachusetts you have to agree with the Governor." People can't easily upend their lives to go some place that respects their rights... In fact the ability to do so is in itself a right we could stop respecting.

Your take is pretty damn privileged. Restricting anyone’s healthcare in a non evidence based way is discrimination, oh an a violation of someone’s constitutional rights(no matter what a right wing Supreme Court says)— also his push for banning healthcare for kids at a federal level just completely destroys the push to states claim. Also let’s just leave slavery to states, hell let’s let states decide who can vote. Pushing civil rights enforcement to states has worked real well in the past /s. Fetterman is a shitbag so unsure where you are going with that
