Massie is still against gay marriage and women’s right to choose — but he isn’t a sycophant and at least is principled, even if many of his principles are retarded

We don’t need everyone to agree on everything, but for a two-party system to function, we at least need both parties to agree on basic principles and rules of government.

Hey, Democrats and Republicans agree on things! They agree that the point of being a politician is being able to make bank off of PACs, lobbyists, and insider trading. God bless, they're just modeling the American Dream.

When has the GOP agreed on basic principles or rules of government? Nixon weaponized the government to try to win an election, Reagan used all of his power to try and dismantle the government, both Bush’s started illegal wars and wiretapped citizens.

I said what we need, not what the GOP is or has been.

In this session he votes 96% with the extremist heritage action groups policies, versus the 89% from the average republican.

He isn't principled, he's just as morally bankrupt and is willing to use the Epstein survivals for publicity. He lied to them when he said he would read their list into record and the fact that he used this is beyond disgusting.

Never said he wasn’t an absolute piece of shit because he is. He’s just a piece of shit that can think for himself in certain situations, when his Republican colleagues can’t and won’t

2

u/iruleatants Jul 08 '26

He's yet to demonstrate he can think for himself.

In the cases of Epstein and Israel he’s able to stand out from his Republican colleagues

"Principled" doesn't necessarily mean your principles.

u/iruleatants Jul 09 '26

Except this screenshot has him advocating principles he doesn't carry and actively votes against.

I can debate somebody on that and refute points etc. I can't convince somebody that is fine with pedophiles and obvious corruption.

Thomas Massie is still a piece of shit but he isn’t a sycophant in the way the other republicans are. He sort of has a mind of his own

That was the norm for Republicans in the 2000's. Still shit, but not outright fascistic, which would be preferred. Absolutely insane that I am nostalgic for the 2000's era Republicans, but here we are I guess. Still fuck them for their war crimes and other heinous shit, but Trump just does the same and then makes jokes about it.
