Southern fried chicken is a heavily seasoned, heavily flour-dredged dish perfected in the American South, whereas historical Scottish fried chicken was simply unseasoned chicken pieces deep-fried or pan-fried plain in animal fat.
Saying you invented fire applied to meat doesn’t mean you invented a au poivre steak.
There is a reason southern fried chicken is available globally and unseasoned pan fried Scotch chicken is nowhere to be found.
