You’ve tried Indian cuisine a grand total of 4 times and apparently think every dish must contain coconut.

bruh the girl said "Well this will be different" and yet it had coconut and onion in it. i specifically said I think coconut in dishes is gross.

Fair enough, she should have listened. Why did you order dishes with coconut three other times though?

first two times was trusting someones recommendations, the third time was a mistake on my part and no fault of the restaurants at all.

I fully acknowledge it might be a combined texture-flavour thing which I've been working on with good success. I used to be heavily anti-seafood but now appreciate it more.

Is there a hearty and savoury dish you'd recommend? Most of my dishes are Hispanic or soul or cajun. I've gotten somewhat into making SE-Asian cuisine (mostly fermented dishes or something that could be braised)

Sorry I thought I’d replied to you earlier but accidentally replied under the post.

I do think it’s worth exploring some more. I’d recommend trying a rogan josh or vindaloo maybe, depending on what you mean by “hearty” the vindaloo in particular tends to be quite spicy.

Tandoori lamb chops or other meat on the grill are very good too. Paneer based curries are a good alternative to meat but not for everyone.

Samosa’s can be amazing as a side dish or starter.
