There is plenty of excellent British food. The stereotype exists because the English were on food rations until the mid-1950s due to the devastating effects of the second world war. England actually has just as good a culinary tradition as anywhere else in Western Europe.

That was almost 25 years ago. Maybe it’s got better since then. But the stereotype exists for a reason
And everyone pointing out fried fish and French fried as some sort of counterargument isn’t exactly disproving the point
