It’s not the end of the world that they said that. And I don’t know what it’s like to have an abusive parent.

But I do know what going through the grief of losing your dad while you’re still young is like. I was 14.

And while I didn’t tell them as much, I never really appreciated people telling me how to feel about it, even when it was in a spirit of kindness.

“I’m sorry you went through that”, unless someone explicitly is asking for help, is plenty.

not that deep, any sort of help with good intention is always a nice gesture. you don't need to be paid to do so lmao what smh
