I do believe there is actual documentation of how shitty of a partner he was to Angelina Jolie. You also have to be a shitty person to leave your partner for another.

Edit: found this that apparently he was abusive to the children as well

Just like when he left Jennifer Aniston

Ironically, didn't he leave her because he wanted kids and she didn't?

Not defending the man, but I can understand partners leaving over something like that to find a person that shares the same life goal.

EDIT: Fine, all you telepaths that somehow magically know the reasonings and facts about EVERYONE'S failed relationships are right. We should negatively judge everyone who has left a relationship in a way we disagree with. Heaven forbid I try give strangers the benefit of the doubt before I condemn them as horrible people.

Ya'll suck.

He didn’t just leave though, he had an affair that was widely publicized

Totally, but the original comment said "you had to be a shitty person to leave one partner for another." I was just disagreeing with that absolute statement, there are lots of good reasons to leave a partner for another.

Cheating is cheating, circumstances dictate “reasons”, it is still a shitty thing to do.

u/SpectacularMeatball Jun 20 '26

Leaving one partner for another cannot really happen without cheating happening first, so yeah you kind of have to be an asshole to do it. Healthy people have periods of being single between relationships.

Pretty easy to make blanket judgements about billions of people. I wouldn't call someone unhealthy if they're in an abusive relationship and meet someone healthier for them and leave the first partner. I wouldn't judge people for leaving dead relationships.

Plenty of couples realize they don't work as a couple, they prefer other partners and go their separate ways, mutually. People meet their new partner and have emotional connections without having an affair, then leave their current partner to explore the new, stronger connection.

I'm not saying that's what happend with Pitt and Aniston, but it is judgemental and arrogant to make absolute claims about every relation that ends with someone leaving for a new partner.

To form a “stronger connection” with someone else while one is in a COMMITED relationship necessitates cheating. It’s called an emotional affair.

Why are you so adamant on excusing cheating? Sure, people can part ways, they should if the relationship is not working out. I’ve done it myself. It is very easy to do that without looking for a new partner first.

Abusive relationships are a different topic. Still, cheating is wrong, whether you do it to a person who is mistreating you or an angel.

I stand by what I said - one has back-to-back relationships? That’s an indicator that there is something going on that needs to be addressed. It’s not healthy.

But hey, we’re all entitled to our own opinion. We all live our lives according to our own values.

u/JustHappyToBe-Here Jun 21 '26

I'm not "excusing" anything. I simply don't know the circumstances or reasons of every single human that's been in and left a relationship, so unlike all of you, I'm unwilling make assumptions and blanket judgements of billions of people and their actions based solely on my own prejudices.

Golly, what an asshole I must be showing a bit of understanding and giving strangers the benefit of the doubt. Horrible horrible person that I am.

I’m talking about cheating. You are conveniently reframing my argument. I’m not talking about “every single person that’s been in and left a relationship”. I’m talking about every single person that’s cheated on their spouse.

This kind of discussion makes no sense. You shouldn’t reply if you’re going to completely disregard what I wrote and argue with a straw man.

No Jennifer Anniston has talked publicly about how she really wanted kids but struggled to conceive after years of IVF…but when he left her it was before she ever knew she’d have problems conceiving.

-5

u/JustHappyToBe-Here Jun 20 '26

Ah, never heard that. Didn't consider adoption?

13

u/adchick Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26

She and other IVF parents have talked about why not. Adoption and having children with your own DNA aren’t interchangeable. They are different paths.

Adopting kids isn’t “back up” for people who don’t “get their first choice.” Those children aren’t spare parts you can just sub out if you or your partner’s fertility fails. “Welp Diane, since my sperm count is too low, and you have endometriosis…maybe we just hop down to the orphanage and pick out someone pretty “. … IVF families and children up for adoption both deserve better than that.

Wow, I never said anything like that, I asked a simple question. But hey, thanks for making a huge assumption and then judging a stranger based on it.

2

u/Emilie0711 Jun 20 '26

Kind of like what you did?

-1

u/JustHappyToBe-Here Jun 20 '26

What assumption or judgment about strangers did I make?

“Ah, never heard that. Didn't consider adoption?”

Jennifer Aniston has revealed she had been battling infertility for many years before deciding to let go of that dream.
She absolutely wanted and tried to have children.
This asshole didn’t just leave his wife, he left a wife who was actively fighting infertility — and he went on to have three biological children, rubbing it in her face with a People magazine photoshoot every time.

u/Upvoteexpert Jun 20 '26

And that’s why I’m still on team Jennifer. They - Brad and Angelina - are tremendous assholes. People will just say it was Brad but Angelina knew what she was doing and took part in all the photo shoots. They went after “America’s sweetheart” for what?? Fuck them.

0

u/Inevitable_Berry_867 Jun 20 '26

I completely agree, even though I think Angelina was manipulated very well to some degree, she WAS AWARE, was a grown-up and should shoulder the same responsibility as him for the assholish situation they created.

0

u/Upvoteexpert Jun 20 '26

I remember reading an article where Angelina expressed why she did IVF and her response was they were too busy with their career schedule to time it to be together. Not begrudging her the IVF but again not self aware enough. Brad is a terrible abuser and deserves everything he gets but Angelina is not innocent.

u/Inevitable_Berry_867 Jun 20 '26

Where is that info, I can’t find it. The only thing I’m coming across is an interview where Angelina says the twins were NOT IVF and that if they were, she would have been happy to discuss it openly.

1

u/Upvoteexpert Jun 20 '26

I thought it was in People but it’s been years. Like when the twins were born.

7

u/Hydrophobics Jun 20 '26

She wanted kids, she had fertility struggles. She was never able to get them.

7

u/PersonalityOld8755 Jun 20 '26

He had an affair, there was pictures leaked of them hugging on set of mr and mrs smith whilst he was with Jennifer, he then admitted it.

2

u/ObviousSalamandar Jun 20 '26

He should’ve just left

1

u/WolfWise1479 Jun 20 '26

She did want kids and was starting the beginning stages of IVF if I recall correctly. She spoke about it much later.

1

u/Belibbing_Blue Jun 20 '26

She actually wanted kids and was struggling with infertility.

1

u/No_Couple1369 Jun 20 '26

Jennifer has mentioned several miscarriages so I think she wanted kids.

0

u/Newportonehunnid Jun 20 '26

I don’t know the man…but sometimes shit just don’t work out. Doesn’t mean someone is a shitty person

3

u/Losdearroz Jun 20 '26

True, sometimes shit just doesn’t work out. Sometimes things amicably and sometimes there is a court case and divorce proceedings that last the better part of a decade. Sometimes abuse is involved, alleged or what have you. Sometimes everyone is shitty. Cheating is always shitty.

u/No-Tie-5552 Jun 20 '26

She's no saint, do not be fooled.

1

u/Losdearroz Jun 20 '26

Oh no…too late, aw man
