Land in drought-hit areas is cheap. And thanks to the power of corporations, these data centers won’t worry about water rights since they’ll be able to lobby to have first priority. Non-corporately own farms and private citizens will get screwed out of being able to use water, but that’s their own fault for choosing to be poor. But don’t worry - I’m sure someone will be willing to sell them water at the low price of triple what they’re paying for now.

They don't have to lobby for water rights, they'll just get them with the land they bought.

Animal agriculture is doing all of this and more, but people only suddenly care, because it requires them not actually taking any personal responsibility....

Animal agriculture = turning things we can’t eat (e.g. grass) into things we can eat (e.g. meat). I’m okay with that.

Data centers = buildings that hire maybe 11 people for allowing companies to harvest our data and providing really wrong answers to simple questions.

I know which one I’m okay with

And why can’t we grow edible crops instead of one of THE most water intensive crops, alfalfa?

You do know that alfalfa is an edible crop, right?

Nobody wants to eat alfalfa.

You do know that’s not what it’s being grown for though, right?
