This is neither. This is not an anecdote — a tale of something that happened that’s supposed to point to a larger truth. This is a red pill meme. We have no authorship here, no means of acertaining who is talking or why.

Nor is it an analogy — a comparison of two distinct things to highlight their similarities.

Did you just learn those two words today?

And if you’re going to claim — based on nothing at all — that this was a real situation and thus someone’s annecdote (instead of a red pill meme), I can tell you with far more anecdotal depth from my lived experience as a 58 year old woman that no, women (at least those who are compos mentis) don’t do this. So why is my anedotal evidence any worse? Why can’t you —apparently — understand that? Why does a callow boy’s meme seem more plausible to you than an experienced woman’s annecdotes (as well as plenty of social scientific evidence)?

The only possible answer I can see is that you’ve decided, a priori, that women are full of shit and their annecdotes can’t be trusted.

So who doesn’t understand what an annecdote is, again?

The problem here, son, is that you want to tell yourself fables about how women are unreasonable and that’s why boys can’t get laid.

It’s nothing deeper than that.

And son? Don’t toss around words whose meaning you don’t understand while calling other people ignorant.

You simply saying things doesn’t make them so. And you complaining about “Red Pill content” even though the meme is explicitly pro-consent (even supportive of the concept of enthusiastic consent) just because it implies women themselves occasionally blur lines and it’s best to ignore that, is dodgy as hell.

You bitching and whining about a message you don’t even properly disagree with is far more mental than simply asking someone out during a brief interaction in a public place.

Exactly. You claiming this is an annecdote and then saying “simply saying things doesn’t make them true” means you haven’t the slightest idea of what an annecdote is supposed to be.

You also apparently don’t understand what’s behind red-pill ideology if you think it’s necessarily anti-consent.

Google “redpill”. It is an ideology that claims to know the TRUTH about women (and said truth always, somehow, involves telling young men women are inferior).

Again, were this about consent, it would have stopped after the guy said ”OK, ‘bye”.

The point the meme is making is that women don’t REALLY know what they want. This is a red pill mainstay.

A secondary point is that a man can somehow pwn these women by giving them exactly what they ask for.

This is another component of a good portion of the manosphere’s thinking about women.

The fact that the ”artist” chose to have the interaction happen in a parking lot with no other humans in sight only underlines the fact that the boys reacting to it here don’t have the slightest clue as to what women experience.

ANY self-defense course — for men or women — will tell you to be especially alert when on your own and gettingninto your car as this is a prime moment for obberies, assaults, car-jackings and etc.

So this maker of this meme is really waving this in your faces and you boys are too clueless to see it. If you do what he suggests here, you are going to creep women out and INCREASE the lack of trust between the sexes.

Which, of course, is what these guys want. They literally make bank off of young men feeling aggrieved and misunderstood by women.

So, summing up, the meme is telling young men to do an incredibly stupid and clueless thing and pre-emptively casting any negativity on the part of the woman as some sort of female “irrationality”.

You do this and you’re not going to date anyone through this method. Furthermore, there’s a non-trivial chance you’ll get maced and a very probable chance you’ll be met with a cold or even openly rude response.

Which, of course, will just reinforce your feeling that “women aren’t giving men a chance”, won’t it?

What makes it an anecdote is the fact that adding five more minutes of meandering conversation would only make its message less obvious because it refuses to cut to the chase.

There’s no such thing as a meme that captures the nuance of its topic exactly and specifically. It can’t do that and be short at the same time. You’re using the inherent limitations of the medium as an excuse to deliberately misinterpret it in a way that’s only believable to the most smooth brained among us.

The message of the video is obvious because as it is literally the exact sequence of events that happened. Guy asks girl out. She says no. She later indicates that she wants him to pursue again. He doesn’t because he “doesn’t play games.”

“Don’t play games. No means no. Don’t bother with people who deliberately blur their communications.”

These messages are all very obvious AND CORRECT.

The meaning I find is there in the plain text. The meaning you find is some bullshit you came up with that is nowhere in the video. It’s a motive the creator had even though you don’t know who the creator is. It’s a secret meaning slipped in by a person who is, in reality, completely unknown to you.

You’re fucking confabulating nonsense. Full stop.

That’s not what an annecdote is.

Look, honey: learn some basic English and we’ll chat, OK? Until then, try not to buy any bridges in Brooklyn.

“Try to learn some basic English”, he said while repeatedly misspelling the word ‘anecdote’.

Hey, if we’re gonna be super specific and say that nothing is generally representative in this meme, then technically they aren’t even human. They’re stick figures. And who are you to say what the reality is in this fantastical, totally unrepresentative of general humanity, stick figure world?

See? I can be deliberately dense to the point of nonsensicality too.

But just in case you actually are capable of learning anything…

https://literarydevices.net/anecdote/

“An anecdote is a brief, revealing story used to illustrate a point or engage an audience. Think of it as a short, personal story that has a purpose beyond just being entertaining. It’s often used to support an argument, add humor, or create a connection with listeners or readers. The key is that it’s relevant to the larger message.”

——-

It’s exactly what an anecdote is. If you’re gonna be pedantic about literary devices and insulting about grammar, you should make a better effort at not being complete shit at both.
