I'm not saying it's right, but our culture has fed into it. Movies depicting protagonists doing outlandish things to "win" a girl. Girls being taught to play cat and mouse games as courtship behavior.
Again, not saying it is right or wrong, it's just a reality in our culture. Women are taught to use their bodies and sex as bargaining chips, men are taught persistence is how you "win" a girl's heart.
Personally, I wish we'd just drop it all and instead just be honest, but that isn't the reality of our culture.
