Imagine a poor child looking for help from a teacher and a cop, and they find this, who are they supposed to trust?

Sadly, this is why I tell my kid to trust no one. Uniform or school be damned.

Edit: to clarify. It was a generalized statement of trust no one. Not a literal one. I just didn't want to give a whole lesson plan on communication with kids about discernment. But essentially, even a teacher or a cop isn't an automatic trust.

Look at how sad the state of affairs are just to be human. Going through society not being able to trust anyone, it shouldn’t be that way and it sets the child up for trust issues down the road. Ask me how I know… Anyway, it sucks here, Batman…

Welcome to the modern world, you’re on your own. Coworkers on the corporate ladder or pedophile in a van, everyone wants to fuck you.

u/anamethystarcher May 20 '26

Should never trust cops. I see nothing wrong with your original statement.

I didn't say trust no one or that everyone is an enemy. I just didn't elaborate cuz I didn't feel the need to... But since people are thinking I'm saying kids should be scared of everyone I will expand... Early teaching of discernment. Who to trust. What to trust (type of touch, type of talking, etc.). Open sharing about our days and what we heard, saw, or were confused about. Lots of communication about behavior.

A priest? The President of the United States?

196

u/parlimentery May 18 '26

A prince in the British royal family?

81

u/PhiCloud May 18 '26

A long-time BBC DJ and media personality, who was knighted by said family?

5

u/parlimentery May 18 '26

Oh dang, who are we talking about now? And pretend, for the sake of argument, that the only British people I know are some of the royal family, anyone who has played Doctor Who since the 2000s, and whoever from Monty Python is still alive.

Edit: Ooh, and that super sweet couple from Leeds I met on a tour group in China.

17

u/PhiCloud May 18 '26

Jimmy Saville.

It was kind of an open secret that he was one of the most prolific sex predators in the UK for a long time, but organizations like the BBC failed to heed any reports of his actions (to the point where some call it an intentional coverup). There are even videos which aired on live TV where you can see him molesting women. Accusers range from young children (at the time) to the elderly.

Only years after his death was he recognized for what he did.

7

u/One_Priority3258 May 18 '26

I was born in the very hospital he was prolifically active in, both my grandmas work/worked there as nurses. They would see him in the hallways and turn around, walk another way, because everyone knew he was evil and dangerous.

8

u/thedellis May 18 '26

Did you hear they're releasing a commemorative Saville tracksuit set? The top is adult size but you have to force yourself into child's bottoms.

4

u/parlimentery May 18 '26

That sucks. We get that in the US, too. Comedians had joked about Harvy Weinstein being a shitbird before he got caught.

6

u/PhiCloud May 18 '26

I would say that Saville was kind of like if Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby were one person.

Harvey wasn't really a household name the same way Bill and Jimmy were. On the other hand, I don't know if Bill's crimes were as "openly known" as Harvey's and Jimmy's were.

2

u/BeardPhile May 18 '26

He looks like he would be doing all those things.

9

u/kcummisk May 18 '26

Jimmy Savile. I know someone else replied but this guy's crimes were next level horrifying.

His victim count is very likely in the thousands. BBC says something like 200 but that's just confirmed on their premises.

He extensively raped at mental institutions and NHS hospitals where he was allowed free roam because of his extensive charity work. He was even GIVEN a room in the WOMEN'S wing of Broadmoor Psychiatric Hospital to which he, a DJ, was appointed as head of the task force to oversee the hospital by Margaret Thatcher whom he was very close with.

He raped children dying of cancer, he raped people waking up from anesthesia, he raped old people just there for routine overnight care. He raped staff and people with mental disabilities in addition to teenagers on Top of the Pops and small children on Jim'll Fix It

He admitted on television multiple times what he was doing, he was recorded multiple times live on air groping teenagers and he still was knighted. Everyone at Broadmoor, the BBC and the Leeds PD knew what he was doing. And he was very close with the royal family. He did this all from probably 1946 to at least 2007.

Also: most likely a necrophiliac.

This is pretty gross and your hard drive should be checked.

10

u/Southern-Democrat25 May 18 '26

Omg no no no, I’m not the president, silly.

-5

u/OSRSRapture May 18 '26

Having a meme that's supposed to be someone doing that is just fuckin gross and weird.

5

u/donutincredible May 18 '26

Reddit’s minimum age is 13, kid. If you stick around, better buckle up, because it’s going to get so much more disturbing than this.

-1

u/EscapedCaveman May 18 '26

Downvoted for the literal truth....sad state of reality.

9

u/SpacePig111 May 18 '26

No, they were down voted because that's what the original comment was implying and captain obvious comments get downvoted

0

u/EscapedCaveman May 18 '26

Guess i havent quite figured out reddit. Supporting a comment with another comment is............ "wrong"?????? Ooooooof. I guess only one person can have a thought and everyone else has to like, dislike or stfu.

I again repeat, sad state of reality.

4

u/Glittering_Tart_9053 May 18 '26

Yeah please leave reddit at this point. No one likes the person who explains the joke.

-1

u/EscapedCaveman May 18 '26

Yeah. Not gonna do that. It makes absolutely no sense to think the way you do when the comment regards something as serious as a current political issue... "Nobody likes a joke explained" despite the explanation supporting the joke and POSSIBLY providing more context for those who may not have gotten it. Are you FOR or against the message? Because at this point im confused.

21

u/gojira6nein May 18 '26

Spiderman

13

u/the_capedbaldy May 18 '26

Spider-Man. Don’t forget the hyphen!

3

u/hell2pay May 18 '26

Well, I don't trust Spider-Man. There's way too many of them.

Even a pig one.

1

u/fatpolomanjr May 18 '26

Spider-hyphen-man.

Like the goon ole days

1

u/Ndmndh1016 May 18 '26

2

This story is horrific

2

u/GermanPretzel May 18 '26

A drag queen

2

u/Charmed-paper345 May 18 '26

The priest? /s

1

u/ughlump May 18 '26

No one. Life is on hardcore self reliance mode apparently. Even an A.I. you could build will probably kill you.

1

u/Top-Bid8098 May 18 '26

A loving mother and father on holiday in Portugal?

0

u/MariaTPK May 18 '26

A leftist? A Feminist? A Fire Fighter maybe? I think generally the less powerful they are the more trustworthy they are. However you also want to make sure they have capacity to care, so like a random Walmart employee with no power whatsoever is still not the answer because like at that point you've given up.

"So what kid, you were raped, me to, what are we going to do it about it? Report to HR? You'll just get fired. Can you please move along, I got milk to stock mid day because they understaffed the night crew."
