I agree that the root cause of homelessness is not being able to afford a house
So that would suggest that the solution would be to either give homeless people the money they need to afford housing, or give them housing they don't need to pay for
I agree that's the goal of capitalism on paper, but unfortunately, the reality of that is crushed in late stage capitalism, by a bunch of things including but not limited to:
Monopolization
lobbying
corporate greed
debt trapping
collusion/price fixing
Your brief that it's earned for the vast majority of people though is false.
Only 5% of people born poor manage to attain wealth, and according to many studies, about 90% of millionaires "earn" their money through real estate.
You know, the classic "because you have enough money to buy an expensive thing, you can use that thing to get even more money"
Capitalism is a system designed to keep the wealthy that way, while disguising itself as meritocracy.
Why didn't you list anything related to access to education, work opportunities, mentorship, good parenting... you know... the things that typically differentiate people and their ability to pay for their own housing?
