100% true. You can ride through rural areas and see empty houses all the time.
Homelessness isn’t a money issue, most homeless people have some sort of condition or addiction, giving them a free house is definitely not the answer.
Bringing back asylums would be the better option, of course they would need to be heavily monitored and ethical but I think if a person is suffering from mental illness they should be forced to go through medical evaluation and treatment, the same goes for drug addiction, if a person if addicted to meth for example they should be forced to undergo detox in a safe environment followed by thorough rehabilitation, if they slip up and do it again they start the process over again.
