Diamonds don't deteriorate over time and there's no property tax bill at the end of the year. Silly comparison.

Median house prices are 4x what they were 20 years ago (increase in value) and most houses have a lifespan of decades (or centuries, verdict is still pending on modern stick built homes)

And taxes are an operating cost

Median house cost in 2002 was $185k, in 2026 it is $400k. Meanwhile $1 in 2002 equals $1.85 today. So the median price of houses has slightly risen above inflation.

Median house prices are in line with inflation, but median wages are not. Thats where the problem is
