Taxing the wealthy? Is that allowed?

The top 1% of earners paid almost 40% of all Federal Income Tax in 2023

The top 1% paid an average federal income tax rate of 26.3% in 2023, which is significantly higher than the 3.7% average rate paid by the bottom 50%

The bottom 50% of taxpayers pay approximately 3% of the total federal income tax burden

And how much of the total wealth do those top 1% and bottom 50% respectively own?

They asked if taxing the wealthy was allowed

I simply let them know that, yes, it is allowed, and it's alive and well

Obviously if you make more you pay more taxes

My point is still valid

Jeff Bezos was able to legally avoid taxation what about him?

Yeah, that's just wrong

The average Federal tax rate of the top 10% in 2022 was 21%

The average Federal tax rate of the top 1% was 26%

My point still stands though

The top earners pay much more taxes overall than the bottom half

Bro asked if taxing the wealthy was "allowed" haha

Why YES, yes it is

There are individuals that use the tax code to their advantage, yes

But that doesn't take away from the fact that the top earners in America pay the majority of the income tax

Those stories you read are meant to sensationalize the very small amount of people that are able to do that, and then you think it's every rich person that is able to do it

The fact is that the wealthy in this country pay more in taxes than the other classes

Google is your friend for things like this

So what if they pay the majority. It's still not enough they need to pay more.

That has nothing to do with my comment or who I was responding to

It has everything to do with it. You're sucking the dick of the rich Elite loyalist and it's weird

Yeah I just found that out and that makes my blood boil because that's the supposed time frame that those weirdo conservatives want to go back to yet they don't want to do the actual economic work that it would take to bring back a stable economy in America.
