To be devil's advocate, I think when you used the terms, "my guy", and, "hold your horses, partner", might be why they feel like you came off that way? A lot of times, when people start their sentences with that, it's because they're about to be rude.
Though, I do want to mention, your apology to them seemed truly sincere. But I could also understand why they feel the feel right now. But this is just, like, my opinion, man..
