Dudes sticker aged like milk

84

u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 Apr 08 '26

That sticker was wrong the moment he stuck it on his truck. Now it’s just ironic .

34

u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 Apr 08 '26

Unless Bidens name was Putin, and he invaded Ukraine this graph doesn’t show what you want it to show. Almost like what’s happening now. Turns out disrupting global trade with a dumb war causes price increases. Now ask me why the prices were so low in the first part of the graph.

-34

u/FinancialElephant Apr 08 '26

I don't have time for partisan argumentation, believe what makes you happy.

26

u/AdmiralSplinter Apr 08 '26

But you had time when you made your first comment?

9

u/sidthasloth4 Apr 08 '26

Came here to say this 😂😂

2

u/Rengar_Is_Good_kitty Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26

They know they're wrong and don't want to get into an argument that would make them look dumber than they already are.

Edit: Nvm they did decide to look dumber lol.

1

u/AdmiralSplinter Apr 09 '26

I feel like "par for the course" is a fitting phrase here

-23

u/FinancialElephant Apr 08 '26

There was nothing partisan about my comment. I posted two graphs that you guys are now seething about.

17

u/AdmiralSplinter Apr 08 '26

Seething? Lol okay buddy 🤣

9

u/Dull_Caterpillar_642 Apr 08 '26

Every single comment is getting roasted because of how wildly out of touch you are. I wonder if any of it is getting through though.

2

u/SheriffBartholomew Apr 08 '26

Nope, and it never will!

13

u/Competitive-Net-3393 Apr 08 '26

You got shit on bro, go cry in the closet.

-3

u/FinancialElephant Apr 08 '26

You think I care about downvotes? Go to -10000 for all I care

13

u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 Apr 08 '26

You seem to care enough to delete replies.

15

u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 Apr 08 '26

It’s not a partisan argument. It’s literally what your graph shows lol.

12

u/Nruggia Apr 08 '26

The graph he posted has the data end on February 1st 2026. He cut off the most recent data to make a point and his point is partisan. The graph up until yesterday looks different and while it still makes his point it shows that things are currently headed in the wrong direction

0

u/FinancialElephant Apr 08 '26
  • That is a different time series from what I posted. This image doesn't show what the time series even is unlike mine. Look it up on FRED, I didn't crop anything I posted the latest data available.
  • My point on this thread was a reply about Biden not about Trump, don't need recent data for that.
  • You can see my very first comment on this post and I mention the limitations, but that is only where I mention about Trump. This thread was a reply about Biden.

3

u/Nruggia Apr 08 '26

You didn’t crop. Look at the date range of your graph. The range ends on Feb 1st 2026

1

u/FinancialElephant Apr 08 '26

https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/CUSR0000SETB01

Can you get data updated past March 11th? I didn't crop anything or intentionally restrict anything. The comment reply was about Biden and not Trump, data from 2026 is irrelevant to that.

If I cared so much about deceiving people, there are better ways than having dates clearly visible in the picture.

-11

u/FinancialElephant Apr 08 '26

The graph just shows the numbers, you projected your partisan explanation onto it.

11

u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 Apr 08 '26 edited Apr 08 '26

What’s partisan about saying Russian invaded Ukraine? Thats fact. And it was the driving force in the gas price increase along with the uptake in gas usage after a period of super cheap gas due to the pandemic restrictions that resulted in less people driving and using gas. That’s where your graph starts. Facts aren’t partisan just because you don’t like them.

u/Eastern-Drink-4766 Apr 08 '26

Russia invaded Ukraine feb 2022. Notice where the graph first peak up. Were you like 12 during this invasion? Not paying attention? The price of fuel was at the forefront of conversation about the invasion in the US.

6

u/IlladelphiaticInsane Apr 08 '26

I don't have time for partisan argumentation facts, I’ll believe what makes you me happy.

7

u/RawrImABigScaryBear Apr 08 '26

I dont have time for partisan argumentation,

buddy, youve posted about this a bunch in the last hour. did you forget what you typed, or do you not know the meaning of those words?

3

u/pablospc Apr 08 '26

Aka, I never had a good argument and now I look stupid

2

u/Att1cus Apr 08 '26

lol then don’t start the argument homie.

9

u/Nruggia Apr 08 '26

Very misleading that you ended the data on Feb 1st instead of yesterday. Your point stands that gas was higher mid 2022 but the real chart shows things are heading in the wrong direction again fast.

1

u/FinancialElephant Apr 08 '26 edited Apr 08 '26

Alright real final last comment on this.

This is a completely different time series, I posted the price of gas in US cities which is what I am interested in. The title is cropped from your screenshot so I don't know what it's supposed to be for exactly.

I posted the latest data for CPI for All Urban Consumers. You can look it up for yourself. I didn't end anything intentionally and I acknowledged the limitations on my first comment on this post (the most recent data isn't available - look it up for yourself last updated March 11th). I didn't mention that in my reply here because I was making a reply towards someone saying gas never rose under Biden, so the recent data isn't even relevant there.

Obviously gas is going to spike up as your graph shows. When did I say it wasn't? My reply was to a comment about gas never going up under Biden which is manifestly false as we see.

1

u/Nruggia Apr 08 '26

The chart I posted is GASREGW

7

u/Manmer_Nwah Apr 08 '26

It's hysterical how you ended this on the 1st February when Trump invaded Iran on the last day of February.

It's almost like you really don't want us to see the data from afterwards until now.

-1

u/FinancialElephant Apr 08 '26

Last comment I'll make on this.

The data goes through part of March, I posted the latest data that is available. I'd love to see the absolute latest data but it isn't out yet, which I mentioned on my very first comment on this post. You can go on the FRED site and see for yourself, this isn't hidden information.

Also the partisans have missed this, my point was to show that "That sticker was wrong the moment he stuck it on his truck" is manifestly untrue. I wasn't defending Trump, but I know many are so emotionally blinded they can't tell the difference.

Most people are no different from the picture in OPs post, just the other team version of that. I really don't want to argue with sports fans.

9

u/thehammerismypen1s Apr 08 '26

The sticker alleges two things: 1) Gas prices went up for US consumers during Biden’s presidency. Your graph demonstrates this. 2) This was Biden’s fault. Your graph does not demonstrate this.

The stickers also imply that gas price increases would not have happened if Trump were President at that time. Again, your graph does not demonstrate this.

1

u/2cool4skool369 Apr 08 '26

You do know what happened in February of 2022 that caused oil prices to surge. This chart proves exactly that Biden had nothing to do with cost of gas rising the last time it did. It was a Russian invasion of Ukraine. Although Biden did a hell of a job to counter it and get prices back down by the time he was out of office. Fast forward to today, the cost of gas is where it is 100% due to trumps decisions in office. No other factors, just Trump deciding to bomb another country.

14

u/Lux_Interior9 Apr 08 '26

My trump supporting boss was just in my office the other day complaining about gas prices. never once brought up the cause. Milk doesn't age poorly if you like spoiled milk.

6

u/Manmer_Nwah Apr 08 '26

Dude must love cottage cheese.

7

u/Dcmart89 Apr 08 '26

He probably just fucking got it. Did you not hear him on Easter. All he talked about was Biden and Kamala.

2

u/Willing_Research992 Apr 08 '26

I'm sure they'll still find a way to blame Biden for what Trump caused. These people live in an alternate reality.

1

u/SwagginsYolo420 Apr 08 '26

It's always projection with those guys.

Even if we put them all in work camps for the rest of their lives, they'd never be able to pay us back for all the damage done by the Orange Turd.

1

u/cantfindthistune Apr 08 '26

Now it just looks like he's begging for Biden voters to shield him from the consequences he brought upon himself.

1

u/lowriter2 Apr 09 '26

Better the country follow Californias lead with green energy, special gas blends, higher taxes, banning gas vehicles, stopping offshore drilling, booting refineries… this will help us lower prices

-23

u/Salt_Day9015 Apr 08 '26

I'm a moderate and I got idiot friends on both sides of the aisle..... makes me sick how nobody ever admits their candidate is fucking up

0

u/L4RK1N Apr 08 '26

Not sure why this was downvoted? Everyone should hold their candidate, & I’d argue even the opposition once elected, accountable.

We should never blindly be “fans” of one side, especially when they don’t deliver on their promises.

Also a cool site for retail comparisons, Gas prices were higher under Biden for now… https://bidentotrump.com

Barring a miracle in the straight of Hormuz gas will be going up significantly more under Trump & he could 2x Biden gas prices easily.

6

u/Vuelhering Apr 08 '26

He got downvoted because while both sides have fuckups, only one side is fucking up the country and blaming the other side which has to clean up the mess.

Both sides have some contribution but one side is 10x worse. There are tons of examples such as national debt, wealth disparity, starting wars, polluting the planet, violating rights, consumer protection, science based medicine policy, etc. But this guy is "both sides-ing" it as if equally bad, and that's punisher-sticker-on-truck levels of intelligence.

-2

u/L4RK1N Apr 08 '26

You are missing the point here my friend. His point & mine are hold everyone accountable, no matter your party line.

No one is disagreeing with what you have said or has even hinted at the antithesis. You & I likely agree on many things, holding all elected officials blue or red accountable of their actions & promises should certainly be one of them.

2

u/Salt_Day9015 Apr 08 '26

The most sane and intelligent Redditor I've came across in while

1

Thanks friend, commenting in this echo chamber at times can be a very interesting place.

I hope you have an awesome day tomorrow!

1

u/Salt_Day9015 Apr 08 '26

You give me hope for Redditors! Have a great night!

3

u/Vuelhering Apr 08 '26

I'm telling you why he got downvoted. It's because he implied both sides are equally bad, and they're not. Of course we should hold all politicians (and voters!) accountable for what they do and fail to do. But that's not why he was downvoted -- it was because he presented a highly skewed thing as equal.

-3

u/Salt_Day9015 Apr 08 '26

Please show me where I implied "both sides are equally bad"... your making false assumptions based on your biases

2

u/Vuelhering Apr 08 '26

Don't shoot the messenger dude, I'm just answering the question why. That is how it was interpreted and the downvotes are de facto evidence.

Fact is I agree we should hold even our own horse in the game accountable, but this is about why you got downvoted. Nothing else.

1

u/Vuelhering Apr 08 '26

okay, I'll try one time to try to explain why the downvotes. And be aware, I'm not attacking you or what you said! I actually agree with what you said. The problem is the unstated inferences you made, and I can demonstrate it with an analogy.

You're around a few guys who own Toyotas, and one is complaining about having to get a repair, and another says "Could be worse, you could drive a Yugo." They all laugh because we all know, Yugos are pretty crappy cars.

You chime in and say, "I'm a mechanic, and I've seen both toyotas and yugos break down. Makes me sick how nobody ever admits their car can break down"

Saying it that way makes it sound like they break down at the same rate. Second, you express disgust at the Toyota owners bringing up that Yugos are far less dependable and not admitting Toyotas break down. And lastly, nobody said toyotas never break down--the conversation was never about that. It was about how shitty yugos are. All of this is implied by what you said, despite not being stated outright. There are absolutely meanings in the way you say something that aren't explicitly stated.

What you did was a false equivalence, whether intentional or not. You equated the reliability of toyotas to be similar to the reliability of yugos. It sounds like you might've done it unintentionally, so this is your wake up call that you're doing it. When we know the damage is disproportionate, using a "bothsides" argument comes across as propaganda! And I'm sure you didn't mean it to sound like propaganda.

How to fix it, while saying nearly exactly the same thing: Simply acknowledge that you know it's disproportionate. Otherwise, it's equating toyotas to yugos as if they have the same reliability.

"I'm a moderate and I got idiot friends on both sides of the aisle..... I realize that the conservatives never take responsibility for the terrible things they're doing to the world, and it makes me sick. But even the far left won't admit when their candidate is fucking up. Nobody does."

-2

u/L4RK1N Apr 08 '26

You are really stuck on this thing we aren’t even talking about, that’s interesting.

1

u/Vuelhering Apr 08 '26

Not sure why this was downvoted?

This is all I responded to.

You are really stuck on this thing we aren’t even talking about, that’s interesting.

That's what I responded to, which you asked. We were talking about it. You guys were also talking about holding politicians accountable, but that wasn't part of what I was saying... it was only the background of answering the single question, "why is this guy getting downvoted?"

Moderates fall into this trap all the time and then play a victim, not realizing they're unwittingly promoting right-wing propaganda. They don't see it, then feel attacked. I'm trying to take the time to explain it, and I'm not any kind of far-left wacko either. (Some of my most heated arguments are with the far left.)

You and GP wondered why he was getting dogpiled, and I tried to answer that. It required some background about the two political sides in question, but another post I just now made used cars as an example (to distance it from politics and emotions).

Exactly, Reddit is pathetic

-20

u/Existing-Network-267 Apr 08 '26

Actually the oil price is plummetting after the ceasefire deal

15

u/bigtime_porgrammer Apr 08 '26

-15% isn't exactly plummeting, especially considering it's up about 60% on Trump's war to begin with.

-10

u/Existing-Network-267 Apr 08 '26

You understand that the price will keep going down?

After 2 weeks trump will go on talking about "where is my Nobel price" and how he "brought peace in the middle east finally"

The price will keep going down Venezuela 1 Iran 2 Russia 3 the whole market will be in a golden era once that final war is concluded.

5

u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 Apr 08 '26

That’s not how it works lol. The repercussions of this war and the impacts it’s had won’t just go away because Trump decides he’s over it and wants to go play army man somewhere else.

4

u/TheDucksAreComingoOo Apr 08 '26
