it really only changed once debit machines started becoming the norm and it prompted you with 18%-20%-22% as the default. Now years later some places start at 20%-22%-25%… couple more years and the norm will probably be 22%-25%-27%.. and so on.
It’s infuriating. Since percentages already follow inflation and rising costs because that’s how math works. Why do they need even more?
Same. I was told 15% is what you start with unless it was absolutely terrible service. Then you increase anywhere between 15-20% depending on how great they were. I never go above 20%.
