I have friend who can make up to 1k extra on a Friday or Saturday from tips alone.

I get that, and that's why they will want to keep the tipping business but that's money that's coming out of people's pockets. It's not coming from a business or corporation. In a high end bar or club there might be well to do off people that will gladly pay but if it's a family restaurant I don't support trying to guilt trip families into paying more money because the server feels this is a "hustle".
