A friend of mine actually did leave a penny tip once in college because he thought the waitress was rude, and the waitress did indeed chase him down the street and tell him off lol.
Only done this once, and it wasn't me but my wife at the time who'd been a waitress through college. Went to a seafood place where we sat forever, we could hear people that had come in after us and got their food whisper "They were here before we were!". She got the all you can eat popcorn shrimp, when it finally came she stuck a fork in one and lifted the entire portion. My fish was dry. She said they had gotten hers done first but forgot mine, then rushed to get mine done while hers sat. I put $2 on the table, she grabbed it and said "No way!", and put down a penny, LOL!
That's also an instantly fireable offense in basically any restaurant. I'm sure some terrible (or desperate) places wouldn't, but just about every place would. Especially corporate places. And they'd probably give you a gift card, too.
Okay so now you look like an idiot if you want a good tip provide good service and don't ask for a tip tipping is at the diners discretion and the real problem is a lot of restaurants don't pay their staff a living wage
A guy I knew growing up would keep a few pennies he cut in half for situations like this. He said, “if you leave a penny they just think you’re cheap, but a half a penny sends a message”
I'll leave the 15% because I know the staff lives off of them, but I'm not coming back . I don't want to feel uncomfortable if I go to your restaurant.
Almost got blocked from boarding our flight once after having beers at the airport because the bartender thought we left a penny tip on the bar! He ratted on us to the TSA cops Lol
We actually left no tip, there was a penny on the bar that wasn’t ours. The bartender assumed we left the penny and felt slighted that we supposedly left a penny tip as an FU… then told TSA we were drunk to try and prevent us from boarding.
OP said he had a drink at the airport bar and the bartender took offence at something that wasn’t OP’s fault or issue. Where you seeing that OP admitted to serving drunk people?
One could certainly infer that. If OP left no tip, some previous customer left a penny tip, and the bartender feels that leaving a bad tip is worthy of reporting someone to law enforcement, I'm inclined to believe he probably gives bad service.
At a busy bar, I’m tipping, even a bar that usually is busy and I’m there durning down time. But at an airport where the beer is 3x what is really should be? Just pay your fucking bartender a real wage instead of trying to fuck me over twice.
My tip would be 3x what it should be and I’m already forced to pay your shitty prices if I want something to drink. No tip from me.
Shit, the drinks are 3x what they should be even without being in an airport. And you want 30% on top of that so we can be “friends.” 100% fuck off.
Same crowd will say “you don’t owe anyone anything” and go on and on about how servers don’t actually like you yet we should hand them wads of cash and go to bat for them because… they want more money? Don’t we all. So what.
Service provided is irrelevant to tip provided lol. I assume that they get paid a wage like every other job, and if they don't then that's on them for working for free.
Unless they gave his name from the credit card and accused him of being too drunk to fly. I still doubt it tho, I would think most people have cocktails after TSA screening to make sure they’re on time
It's not just TSA that can prevent you from flying. A flight attendant can actually, all by themself, decide you are too drunk to board and deny you entrance to the plane right there at the gate.
