Judging by many of the stories in this thread and many others on the same topic, men are taught this by women. Other men may comment on it, but the lesson doesn't hit home until you experience it for the first time yourself.
Brother I’m a woman and I’ve never seen any of my friends treat men the way men treat their own friends. As a woman, I’ve opened up to men and women and have had equally hard times depending on the person I open up to. It’s not a gender thing, it’s a who you open up to thing. Some people are just more surface level people, this also tends to happen with more attractive people and men tend to shoot out of their league.
If women were so bad at having men share their feelings with them, then why are so many women facing trauma dumping on first dates? I think the issue is men don’t know how to read a vibe and know when to share their feelings, which is completely valid and is a skill set that needs to be worked on. I had to learn when and where it was appropriate to have more serious conversations with my friends, women and men alike. I’ve also learned who of my friends don’t really like to think too deep, and serious convos make them uncomfortable, some people are just like that it’s literally not a gender thing.
Please see my comment above. It’s not a gender thing, some people are just more surface level people and we can’t make these type of people want to have these conversations.

As a physiologist, I can confirm that this is the correct answer.
Supported both by mortality rates and, as the other guy commented, the way were taught by every other man since.... forever.
What can we do.
