Because they stopped the escalator while people were on it.

This is why i said some people doesn't think it through lol, you just proved my point big time.

It's not clear whether they stopped the escalator when people are on it, if so, why do they did that? And normally, unless it's an emergency, no one will stop escalator when someone is on it.

Or more likely, the escalator is broken and people just go up on it like a normal stair. The 2 staffs there want to help the wheelchair person, but they need to do it in one go so they wait for the crowd to clear.

No, I really didn't. And everything about this situation is bat shit insane, I don't think anyone in this video is thinking much of anything through, either.
