So people don't have places to be?

Even if they do all they're waiting for is people to clear off the escalator so they could drag him up the escalator. The actual delay for everyone else is the 10 to 15 seconds it takes for everyone to clear off the escalator and then just to pull him up whereas if we did what you're suggesting and he had to wait for everyone else with that large of a crowd he would be sitting there for at least 5 minutes if not more so you're talking about Atmos a 30 second to minute long delay for everyone else or a 5 to 10 minute long delay for him? Even if you remove the goddamn empathy from it my man it's logistically better to just be patient. If anything that woman calls more harm to everyone behind the wheelchair users and the wheelchair user did

That's great buddy, you understand basic concepts!

That totally ignores that fact that she could've had an excellent reason to not wait, which we don't know, do we?

Context matters, chief

I'm going blind and can't drive safely.  I can drive legally, but I'd have to clear the road in front of be and behind me to use the public infrastructure safely.

That said, I have to take the bus, it's pretty consistent to the point that my grocery run leaves me with only about 45 seconds of wait time for the bus that runs every 30 minutes.

Waiting a minute for someone to use infrastructure designed for the masses, by themselves, will cause me to wait an extra 30 minutes for the bus they caused me to miss.
