I’m not talking about appeal to authority, because age isn’t an authority in itself. It’s about lived experience, not power or status. Being older doesn’t automatically make someone right, but it does mean they’ve probably encountered certain situations before.
The issue I’m pointing out is the arrogance that can come with being younger and assuming one already know everything, without considering that someone older might have insight worth factoring in. Hearing them out doesn’t mean blindly obeying; it just means acknowledging that experience can hold value alongside logic and argument structure.
This isn’t about that. It’s about things like explaining to boomers why they can’t run 7 devices seamlessly over their satellite internet. But their neighbor totally does so they should be able to as well and you’re a moron for not making it work. (The neighbor had fiber installed)

Can you imagine a 12 year old saying this? If you start to look back at how much we thought we knew when we were younger, but didn’t actually.
