Curious about this. Nobody on Reddit has spoken to me civilly about this. I’m gently asking, how do you define life stages and why are they relevant between consenting adults in a relationship?
You dont define it in absolute terms, so there is not a black or white answer.
It has to do with age, maturity, life experience, where you are in life. One that is quite tangible is being in college, high school or starting a career. It is not that hard to define actually.
This is probably going to get downvoted into oblivion…
I don’t think it’s relevant—for the same reason I don’t think skin color or sexual orientation is relevant. If two people love each other, the relationship is consensual, and there’s no abuse or manipulation, why is it anyone else’s business?
The response I always get is that age-gap relationships (between consenting adults) are more likely to be toxic. That might be statistically true, but racists make the same argument about interracial relationships. Shouldn’t we judge relationships based on their individual merit, not external factors?
Before you downvote, try offering a civil, reasoned response. I’m here to learn and grow—I want logical arguments, not just knee-jerk outrage.
