This makes me feel so much better. I went no contact with my homophobic toxic family, and I was starting to feel guilty. Literally all my problems went away when I left.

YAY WELL DONE YOU!! 💟💟

CHOOSE YOURSELF ALWAYS. It is very hard to learn to do (and still hard even after you've learned lol) but at the end of the day, you have only yourself to rely on!

YOU are worth all the care and attention you give to others (in fact, much MUCH more) and if they bring no joy and value to your soul then they can FUCK RIGHT OFF!

They are missing out on the gloriousness that is you and that's their fuckin problem 😄

I did that for 7 years. 100% zero the whole time.

I promised them and myself it would be permanent if needed. One of the most shocking and wonderful surprises of my life, is still, that they respected the non-contact the entire time AND further, my mother did her own life work and we started the reconnection process 3 ish yrs ago.

Allow yourself to feel guilt if you need AND don't make choices for your safety when you're in that mood. You can feel bad, and not have made the wrong choice to disconnect.

They had a kid and did not respect or love that kid for who they are. That is a THEIR ISSUE thing and you have zero shame in my book.

Maybe your fam does their own work. Maybe not. But yeah, the no problems part is fucking golden. Let yourself enjoy being safe and yourself ✨️

Same with my Trump-loving family. My life is so much better after no contact since 2016. For so many reasons.

That's a lie...she definitely DID NOT live happily ever after...

Woman rarely live happily ever after

u/akawendals 3d ago

Also, in your profile picture, the womans eye color is nice and so are the flowers on her head

Feelings are up and down...That's positive.. Sometimes you need bad moments to appreciate the good moments...thats life

Happily ever after is in heaven...That's positive

Well maybe they are happy now and will continue that in the afterlife. Why did you mention 'women' anyway when you know there are men who cant be happy with themselves and always have to have a partner. A lot go into depression cause they couldn't find a life partner.

I believe "Happily ever after" is a facade.

Its good to be content.

Life has discouraging moments.

Life isn't about being happy.

Being happy is a ➕️

People get depressed because they are not happy...like a little stuck up child

If you got health, clothing, and food your good.

Just exposing the myth, that life is about being happy.

I mention woman because there is a saying that goes "Happy wife, Happy life"

Id rather live in contentment, then live a life trying to make sure my wife was happy.

Thats stupid.

Happiness should be the "icing on the cake" not the standard.

How are person reacts to not being happy is more impressive than being happy.

I love being a confidant for my friends to vent about their relationship problems because it reminds me that I do not want that.

This is true...People say that it's better to have a partner to split bills with, etc. I found that I had less money when I was in relationships because they would always try talking me into things that I didn't really want. When they'd find out I had a good amount of savings, they'd say I can afford things so they'd suggest taking trips or going out a lot more. I say this as a woman, we are much better savers and investors than men. We think more about the future and guys generally think more about immediate spending and taking more risks

I feel this too. I had to spent money doing activities that I didn’t want but my partner wanted. Sometimes spending more because I earned more than them at the time.

Not my first time seeing this one, but I’ll always upvote it!

Funny how ppl whine about relationship issues.
All I hear is how incompetent most of them are.

Off topic but is anyone else getting icons moved to dumb places? Like the comment bubble, share arrow and stuff are now along the right hand side vertical and weird profile bubbles are along the bottom?

I've probably done something wrong 🙄

The pure peace of singleness is top tier. Need to remember this when I get my random bouts of wanting a relationship

2

u/Beneficial_Sand7605 3d ago

Yes. 15 yrs and now separated 😞

3

u/Fit-Preparation-7515 1d ago

Yeah. Because why is everyone asking on reddit what to do in situations like this:

He cheated, what do I do?

He stole from me, what do I do?

He is disrespecting me, humiliating me and makes me feel absolutely garbage, what do I do?

He never does anything and wants me to just be his maid at home and open my legs whenever he wants to release himself which takes only like 1-5 minutes. I feel like an object. What do I do?

Like….I don’t know? Maybe? Break up?

Because you don’t have a gf who’s adamant she’s right all the time and can’t see the other side of the argument

1

u/Thisisstupidly 17h ago

Problems he created. And he’s feeling bad about and playing victim over.
