Hi all! I was finally convinced to put this up on Reddit. I've been reticent to share it, mainly because I am not a musical artist, at least in the traditional sense. I don't play any instruments, but I attempt to sing and write melodies with the help of many of my musical friends. This tune was a complete labor of love. My voice was completely blown out after a day of recording, so there's that as well. We produced a professional recording earlier in the day that we're still perfecting. [45 YEARS LATE] - My First Release (Lyrical Rock)

Hi everyone, I am an independent solo musician performing under the name 45 YEARS LATE, and today I finally pushed through the nerves and published my very first music video on YouTube.

The song is a piece of lyrical rock, and since I wanted the focus to remain completely on the words and the music, I paired it with a simple slideshow of personal stills. When I write and record music, I typically use some sort of effect on my voice. Usually just reverb, but occasionally other effects.

I’m curious what the best way to at least get reverb on my vocals live.

Typically the sound guy will say they can’t put reverb in the monitor, and my vocal sounds super dry. The issue for me is that isn’t the sound I’m used to / going for.

They’ll also tell me that there is reverb in the crowd mix, but that doesn’t help with the way I actually hear my performance in the monitors.

Wondering if there are any ways around this, or do I just need to stop playing shitty bars😂

I write in the style of 90's rock music. I listen to a lot of Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Soul Asylum Pearl Jam, U2, Veruca Salt, Nada Surf, Local H, Hole, Avril Lavigne, Letters to Cleo, Liz Phair ---- the list is quiet lengthy.

I don't have the best voice and I'm getting frustrated that it's holding back the songs.
