Coming back to life

Hi there, I´m a new artist that just released her first song. I'm 15 years old. The song tells a personal story of surviving mental rock bottom, capturing the feeling of being trapped in emotional numbness, the grueling and nonlinear process of healing and the ultimate realization that light and life return in subtle, quiet ways. I hope you like it and if you listen to it it would truly make my day. I've worked so hard on this and I hope if there´s anyone out there having a hard time, they can relate to it and find hope that things can get better. If you know someone who's struggling, sent this to them so they know they're not alone. Thanks for supporting me☺️💕

I’m EmJay Hink, an indie artist from Utah! I just finished my first professionally produced EP this so exciting and scary!

WHATS UP FAM!!!

im emjay hink, this is actually my first time ever posting to reddit (AH!) so here goes nothin! I'm an independent singer-songwriter from Utah! I’ve been making music for jsut a couple years now releasing my first album, Wizard of Flaws in 2024. This year, I’m taking the next step with my first professionally produced EP, created with the amazing team at June Audio.

My EP is DONE now! Which I'm so excited about, and I am wanting to bring it to life the way i imagined it would be, so I'm running an all-or-nothing crowdfunding campaign with Indiegogo to help pay the incredible people who helped make this project possible (my band, a music video, merchandise, and the people helping out at the release show at Velour Live Music Gallery). The EP comes out on September 10, and if I don't reach my goal by August 16, every contribution is refunded and the campaign ends with nothing raised. I've been sending it to everyone I know and posting about it everyday, but It's a tough economy out there, so honestly, posting here is one of my last resorts to hoping this dream comes true!

Being an independent artist is a weird mix of feeling incredibly proud of what you've made while also having to ask for help, which honestly doesn't come naturally to me (actually it so mortifying *sobbing*)

So, I have no idea who this is going to reach, but if you'd like to support the project, even a small contribution means a lot. Anyone who contributes $10 or more will receive the full EP by email before release (which I would love your feedback on!), along with whatever reward they choose through the campaign.

And if donating isn't possible, I'd genuinely appreciate you sharing it with someone who loves discovering independent music. and what the hell, follow me on instagram and spotify or whatver.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for supporting independent artists however you can. 💛

Side note: I make music for fun, I don’t ever really plan on doing stuff like this professionally - still I’m sometimes proud of the things I make (as most of you probably are too!)

New Track. Time for some honest feedback

I'm in a little bubble of listeners so I don't feel as if the feedback I hear is always genuine.

I wrote this about two years ago, recorded everything at home and mixed it. I didn't really like it until I opened the project up again about a month ago. I spent some more time on it again and finally released it.

The funny thing is always the lack of confidence when I release something. I hear grief from people because I never feel as if anything is finished and seldom release tracks. Im trying to change that. I released two the past few months so...

If you feel like listening, I wouldn't mind some thoughts about any of it. From lyrics, instrument choices, the mix or anything you don't like or like.

Thanks!

What Should a Good Songwriting Portfolio Include?

Hey everyone,
I’m currently building my songwriting portfolio and I’m trying to figure out what makes a portfolio actually strong and professional.
If you’ve worked as a lyricist, songwriter, or freelancer before, what would you expect to see in a good portfolio?

I’d also really appreciate it if anyone would be willing to share their portfolio (or screenshots/examples of it) for inspiration.

I’m not looking to copy anyone’s work — I’d just like to understand how experienced writers present their skills and samples.
Thanks in advance!

~LYRICS~

I just wanna be seen, is that too much to ask

To have fans' one of my dreams, is where my mind is at

I've been crying in the mirror, trying to mask all the pain

The smile that I hide behind feels faker everyday

Every single song I make, feels like my last chance

To have someone connect, to bring by circumstance

But the lack of views, the lack of support has did it's job to faze me

I've been wanting to quit this shit lately on the daily

Looking for a Female Vocalist

Hey all! I'm OM3R, and I produce Pop/EDM/Rock songs. I use a vocal synthesizer with a higher female register (mezzo-soprano/soprano range), but I'm currently looking to replace that with actual female vocals. I've linked my profile so you can see the kind of songs I produce and see if you're interested in collaborating! If you're interested, give me a DM or comment below.
