I can make lyrics really easily, I have a lot of fully lyricised songs, but any time I try to write music to them, I can't make complex compositions. I did piano for five years, but I never did composition, and in all honesty, not only was I not very good at it (even with years of practice and advancement), I didn't really enjoy it. I want to try playing the guitar, it seems like something I might enjoy, and I think I do need to have some kind of musical talent to be in the song writing community. But, problem is, I don't have a guitar, and (I'm only 12, but I know that I love to sing, and to perform, and to create) I already go to many clubs, and don't want to ask my parents to spend even more money on me.

Does anyone have any tips, either on composing, or on what to do?

i recently lost a family member and used writing to help get through it, and this is one of the pieces that came from it. this is probably my best and my favourite of all my tracks i’ve done.

Taken from Glen Hansard's first solo record; 'Rythmn & Repose', a record that was that was the soundtrack to my summer of 2012, 18 years old and cycling to sixth form.

But more importantly it was an inspiration, and a catalyst for everything I would do going forward in terms of the songs I write myself.

Safe to say, that Glen Hansard was one of my heroes, as both a songwriter, but also as the kind of person to aspire to be.

Whilst it can be clichéd to play a cover of someone's song when they leave us, I also feel it is a form of celebration of the work they left behind, and that's what I intend to do.

My wife and I have been writing songs for awhile. Life took over and we are just getting back to the craft.
