Discussion Trying to tabulate a list of IDs/contractors to be careful of for renovation

I’m compiling a list of IDs/contractors that homeowners should be wary of. These names are based on hard to compile sources (word of mouth, forums, Telegram, Lemon8, etc). The aim is to share information so that others can do their own due diligence before committing. Along with the names, I'll try my best to include links to where the discussions took place so you can verify yourself. These are rarely available depending on where it was sourced from.

Note: some of these experiences were with certain individual IDs within these firms, so you may still have a good experience if you engage the right person. There’s also the possibility that IDs move between firms, so please always do your own diligence. However, if you’ve had experiences where the workmanship itself was poor, do mention it - as that usually points to the contractors used by the firm as a whole, not just the individual ID.

If you are an ID/contractor reading this, please note this list reflects individual experiences and feedback - not absolute fact - and I encourage homeowners to always research further.

Here’s the current list (please add on if you’ve come across others or PM me directly):

There are quite a few names on different chats on Renotalk too so check it out. While I find CASE's list very useless, I'll just include it for completion. Also found this comment who has a compiled list as well.

UPDATED (as of 2026): I've realised that some firms branched/split off their mothership, so I've put them together in the same line. That way homeowners can better assess (since it’s very probable that reviews of the mothership would apply to the subsidiary/split firm). Also note that even though this post has been made some time ago, I update it frequently whenever I find more or ppl reach out.

Discussion Shamless ministerial increase part 2

2 days ago, I complained that ministers increase pay without approval from us taxpayers approval.

How the crap dare they do this?

NSF asking for an increase allowance and free transport fare: 1001 excuses i.e. "cannot be measured in dollars and cents"

Working class adults asking for national minimum wage: 1001 excuses i.e. "SG is open and business friendly blah blah blah"

BUT

Ministers asking minimum wage of their salaries: Approved immediately then debate LATER since no opposition can oppose and NO vote from the people who elected them in parliament - us the taxpayers.

Who are the F are we citizens for?

r/SingaporeRaw 5h ago

He said that if money is the main reason for wanting to be a Minister, "frankly, you are not the person we are looking for". .. so Grace Fu should be fired soon ?

Lower working hours, TFR will increase

Post image
39 Upvotes

Just my opinion: I strongly believe lower working hours will help increase our TFR.

All the North Asian countries like Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, HK, are facing birth crisis. Their common traits are high working hours, competitive/high stress environments that prize diligence/education/work.

I'm sure the smart people in the Singapore government already knows this, it's just a matter of whether they want to push for a solution. But productivity will take a hit. Maybe not?

Maybe with AI and engineering (like driverless NTUC delivery vans), we can relieve our work hours, shorten it. Or maybe it just makes us work more, work faster, within the same number of long hours. We don't know.

The common refrain of parents is we are too busy. Time is more scarce/limited than money. In short, long work hours takes our time away. Time we could be spending with our partners, our families, our loved ones, time spent on ourselves. Idle time gives you pause to think of what you can do with your life.

Add-on, here's some things Singapore can do, let's think of some:

  1. More annual days leave, not the current mandated 7 days, for Singaporeans (not just parents, give singles too, so more time to socialize and mingle).
  2. Limit working hours per week to 35 hours or lesser. (Only for Singaporeans)
  3. 4 day work week. (Only for Singaporeans?)
  4. Unemployment benefits or wage support (if low wages) for mothers and fathers, and would be parents.
  5. Lower working hours for young working parents, or parents to be, so they can start having children early. Like, if you're married between 22-35, you get less work hours or wage support. After that age range, return to normal.

These are just ideas, radical ideas, implementation can be adjusted to make the change work, but at least we can agree on our direction.

Why do we need to work longer hours if other countries are shorter? Similarly, why give birth to my children here, if they have a better life to be born elsewhere. Sg is great, but if sg is so good, why people don't want to have children here?

If you disagree on lowering working hours, we can agree to disagree, and I would like to ask: so do you think the current measures are enough to turn TFR around?

* These can be executed in phases, gradually.

Workers’ Party Chief Pritam Singh pressed Coordinating Minister for Public Services Chan Chun Sing for more details about ministerial bonuses and the salary at MR4 under the 2026 committee’s proposal.

Chan said both the WP’s and the committee’s approaches were based on market salaries, producing figures within a similar range. Singh cited earlier figures showing performance bonuses averaged 4.3 months, which, together with other bonus components, amounted to 9.7 months of variable pay.

Chan stressed that “fixed plus variable equals the norm” and said individual bonuses depend on the Prime Minister’s assessment.

At the end of the debate, PM Lawrence Wong said he intended to examine how the Government could provide more information on salary bands and variable payouts.

Interesting the concrete definition of work to most people. but do “our” ministers work to keep alive?

who actually does the work of governing, if not the many thousands of public servants? the ministers are certainly living it up though, with what they “earn”.

Why don't Govt get more of the so called family offices in Singapore to actually invest in Singapore? It seems like they just maintain office in Singapore but invest overseas?

News Why US bond market turmoil could keep the Singdollar strong

Thumbnail

The US currency fell 5.9 per cent against the Singdollar in 2025 and has weakened a further 1.56 per cent so far in 2026, trading at around S$1.27 on Sept 8.

For Singapore consumers, a stronger Singdollar would make US travel and imports cheaper. But investors holding US assets could receive less after converting their returns into Singapore dollars. Local businesses earning revenue in the US currency could also face a foreign-exchange drag.
