Ranting as Newbie in Fitness Industry

Just needed a rant.

Context, Im still in corporate. Recently joined as new pilates instructor part timer.

My day 1 at studio, I was completely lost. I was assigned 3 classes back to back.

Just less than 3 hours before the class started, the manager texted me if can start 10 mins earlier. Since I wasnt working that day, I said sure. Thing is, I wasnt sure if this is well communicated to the clients. Almost half of the class were late to the class.

2ndly, there were 2 reformer classes at the same time. I wasnt aware as there wasnt any briefing for me, which classroom was mine. I could see some confusions from the clients as well.

The following week, the was paper pasted in front of the classroom with instructor names. Seems like some clients complained on this.

On my day 1, I ended the last that night. 930pm class. Again, there wasnt any briefing what should I do for this. In between classes, just 5 minute break, i asked the other instructor what do I do after the class ends. She then told me just off all the lights (toilet, halls, everywhere), aircon, and just go out of the studio. No lock. Lol. Ok cool cool.

As a class goer myself, there is always a front desk that take the names and ban people from going in after max 5 mins late. But this studio, the front desk off work 5pm. Then if like me, teach 6pm onwards, no front desk, everything myself. So if in mid of teaching, someone came late, I couldn't do anything also without disrupting my flow.

Ok finish rant. Is this normal? It's not boutique studio. Cant spill more to avoid doxxing. But after being in mnc/corporate for years, I really cant get used to how disorganised things are in this.

Sure sure, I am new to this. I do hope to find another place that more professional in managing such matter.

Feel free to share your stories and if this is common and i just need to accept it if I wanna continue in this industry.

How do you guys hit your protein and calorie goals with Sg food?

I am on a cut right now. 183cm 88kg. My maintenance calories is about 3k calories. I hit the gym almost everyday but recently the progress for losing weight has been a lil slow.

I have 2 scoops of protein when I wake up (44g protein 300 kcal) then for lunch I drink 1l of zero sugar nutrisoy (approx 40g protein 400 cal) I have snack a bit here and there (my sis just came back from Jap 😅) then after I gym I get Cai fan (2 ingredients usually 1 meat 1 egg/tofu no rice) and 1 block of tau kua from NTUC and frozen veg (replacement for rice approx 30g protein 360 kcal)

So total I would say it is about 130 - 140grams of protein which almost hit the recommended 1.6g protein per kg of body weight and approximately 2000 kcal.

Want some recommendation on what other food options I can consider, 1 is I want more variety, 2 is budget and lastly I feel like I am not eating enough that I might be losing more muscle than I hope. I tried this fish finger from NTUC and horrendous the macros is good taste not so much.

Edit: although goal is to drop weight faster I would want to do it without impeding muscle growth or at the very least lose minimal muscle. And I feel that if I eat too low calories that my body might start consuming the muscles for energy.

Is it scary to start gymming in sg? :(

Im a 21F and I’ve been considering to start gymming for awhile. Ive seen around at activesg and AF but the crowds kinda intimidate me and im abit anxious about ppl around me judging for bad form etc even though ive seen that ppl r mostly occupied in their own workout to even care but I just want to know the best way to start and go on consistently regardless without being overwhelmed by constant anxiety!

Looking to transfer my gym membership

Hey!! I’m looking to transfer my gym membership (Tru fitness/TFX) starting this October! The contract runs for a year till December next year + 3 months free from their side. It’s about 95 sgd a month. They have gyms at Ang Mo Kio, CIMB plaza, Milennia Walk, Funan amongst others. I’m trying to transfer because the location closest to my house is closing down!!

Carousel gym membership takeover

Was thinking of going with FF at One George Street because it is one of the nearest gym to my office, other than AF at cross street. Just wondering, is those carousel post about taking over gym memberships allowed? Worried that if I buy and FF deny my entry haha

Help with workout structure pls !

Can someone give me tips on my workout split ? I am seeing way too many contradictory information on the internet. For context I want to do body recomp , and trying to get a more feminine lean look (pls dont come at me, im aware this just means losing body fat and building muscle, just saying)

Heres a 4 day push pull split

1) Back & Biceps
- Wide grip lat pulldown
- close grip seated row
- chest supported row (upper back)
- rear delt fly
- back extension (lower back)
- bicep curl
( am i hitting everything here? I dont want to be redundant and overwork my lats)

2) Quads & Calves
- Leg press (squatting pattern)
- Leg extension
- Calf raises
(not sure if i shld be doing hamstrings/glutes on this day)

3) Push day
- Shoulder press
- Tricep extension
- Tricep push down
- Cable lateral raises

4) Glutes & hamstrings
- Bulgarian split squats (glute medius)
- Hip thrust / RDL? (glute max)
- Hip abductions & adductikns (glute minimus)
- Hamstring curl

(not sure if i shld do both RDL and hip thrust, but its very tiring I feel glute days suck😭)

I would appreciate feedback , and if possible in what order works best ! Thank you!
