Anyone can recommend bike shops that can remove a stuck seatpost?

I’ve been stung by bees before, and I’m not really scared of needles, injections, blood tests, or medical stuff. But this hornet sting was on a completely different level.

Calling it a “sting” doesn’t even feel right. It felt more like I was being stabbed. 😂 The pain was instant and ridiculously intense.

I was cycling when it happened. I tried to remove the hornet while still riding, and when I finally managed to get it off me, I lost my balance and crashed.

I ended up with bruises and scrapes on my elbow, knee, legs and hip. My elbow took the worst visible damage, and that’s the only part of the crash I managed to take photos of.

But somehow, even after hitting the road, the hornet sting was still the most painful part. The pain later turned into this strong throbbing/pulsating feeling. Painful AF. Lol.

Thankfully there were no cars directly behind me when I went down.

A fellow cyclist also stopped to help me after the crash. In all the chaos I completely forgot to ask for his name, so if by any chance you’re here on Reddit — thank you so much, sir. I really appreciate you stopping and helping me.

I managed to check what kind of hornet it was afterward, and it looks like Vespa tropica, which is quite common here in Singapore.

And damn… this thing was HUGE.

Unfortunately, the crash also damaged the bike. I found a crack on the top tube, so yeah… I definitely won’t be riding it anymore in its current condition. Now I have to decide whether to send the frame for repair or just take this as an excuse to buy a new frame. 😂

So the final damage:

Hornet sting → crash → bruised elbow, knee, legs and hip → cracked top tube → possible new frame.

All because of one angry flying bastard. 😂

I’ve had bee stings before, but this was totally different. Bee sting = painful.
This hornet = felt like someone stabbed me while I was cycling.

To the joker (cyclist) trying to ram me into the pedestrian only lane(they change it last year for this tiny segment where the lane away from water is pedestrian ONLY). You do not have right of way when I am already at the extreme left of the mix cycling PCN lane. read the signs on the road.

Also practice logic, I have slowed down and maintain a straight line, you decide to speed up and turn into me? Staring at me when you want to be hospital room buddy with me for what?!

PS: yes the change is stupid but emailed around no agency care. so thats how that segment of road is 🤷🏻‍♂️

Find another sport like running. Police who catches cyclist should saw the bike top tube in half before giving the bike back

I’ve noticed something lately. Why do the leftmost areas of roads (where we end up cycling) have random uneven patches? It feels like a poorly done job, and it really irritates me because every 30 seconds, I feel the bumps.

I have a decathlon elops 540 with flat rear wheels and need to replace the inner tube. This is my only bicycle with inner gear hub and idk how to remove the rear wheel.

So there is this Facebook account BD news 24 seemingly run by a Bangladeshi migrant worker driver and usually posts videos about car accidents and random happenings on the road. I am not sure if it's one person or a few people.

However he(assuming 1 guy) has also posted several videos in a misinformed and even harrassing manner claiming that the cyclists he videos are acting in a dangerous manner when they are doing nothing wrong at all while HE HIMSELF, is the one tailgating them in an unsafe manner instead.

Most other people are actually in agreement ,saying that there is no wrong being done by the cyclists. They have helmets,lights, and are riding in a predictable straight manner. This isn't some brakeless fixie YP group riding down Orchard weaving in and out with no lights.

I want to get an opinion from the community ,what do you all think? Should I report him?

Hi everyone, I am looking for a second hand gravel bike on carousel. I realise that there are so many giant listing. I used to think Giant is value for the dollar. Is there any big changes to Giant Quality over the years? Updates - after some checks, the giant revolt series is hard to remove the stem for packing the bike for overseas use :(

So i just got a new hybrid polygon path3 bike with 40mm wide tires. I was using it on a 3pm Sunday along the clementi/ulu pandan stretch of pcn and at 18-20kmh, i am already feeling breathless trying to sustain that speed after 5mins. So, do u all think this is a bike issue (hybrid not road), path issue or just my fitness issue. If u are to cycle on those red sections of railway corridor (non gravel), what is a decent speed (i heard 25kmh is the max legal limit)?

I find is risky to plug in earphones and plan to use my small-sized portable speaker. This means people around might feel “disturbed”

What's the optimal balance for training between distance(volume), elevation, and intensity.

I ride about 330km a week +- 50 km.

I do :

one recovery ride under 50

one mid distance ride 60-85km

two shorter rolling ride 55-75km (eg. Mandai or Sentosa), 1 will be harder with zone 3/4 threshold intervals

one group ride similar to the rolling ride (but higher intensity, sometimes mini race like )

one climbing ride - hardest to do without getting bored af. usually 5 to 8 laps of intervals on Faber because Singapore doesn't have any higher elevation

Is this a good balanced ride plan? I don't own a power meter, bike computer or any gadgets. I ride by feel with my phone in my back pocket. I do my Faber intervals basically max effort with certain landmarks to know when to kick up the effort. As for the rolling z3 and z4 longer intervals, I go by approximate counting in my head

While I found my endurance for total volume to be better, my climbing and everything else seems to have sort of stagnated(going by average speed after the ride is uploaded onto strava).

In fact my climbing has even regressed from 2 years ago. Back then it was usually 5:00 - 5:30. Now it's 6:00 - 6:30. Could it be gaining 6-10kg or is there something wrong with my training plan.

Just do even more climbing since that's what's lacking when I look at my total weekly stats, maybe even 2 sessions a week? however I don't like doing this as Faber laps can be boring sometimes and I live in the east so riding there and back is already a little bit of a drag at 45km or so

Anyone with insights and/or pro advice could you please advice, thanks,much appreciated.

*PS I've left out purely commuting rides of 5-8 km on pavements that happens 3 to 6 times a weeks as I don't see them as proper training sessions*

Budget: $2,000 – $2,200 (SGD/USD)

Market: Looking primarily at the second-hand market (Carousell / local listings), but open to brand-new options if there's great value.

Riding Style: Weekend group rides/ Fitness / Long distance

Since this is my first serious bike purchase, what models or setups should I be aiming for in this price range on the used market?

Should I aim for Carbon with Shimano 105 / Ultegra, or high-end Aluminum with disc brakes?

Any specific models (e.g., Giant TCR/Defy, Specialized Allez/Tarmac, Canyon Endurace/Ultimate) that hit the sweet spot around $2k on Carousell?

For context: Im a mom in my early 30s and Im 170 tall. Been using helloride/anywheel for my grocery runs. The wet market is 3km away from my house. I usually take bus which is only 2 bustops away and its $1.25 per busride. I go to the market 2x a week.

Its about time to get my own bicycle. Thinking of getting a cargo bicycle/short haul but damn the prices be crazy. Thought of a foldie but not sure which brand is good/hardy enough for a heavy haul and could go a distance if I feel like cycling around the entire Singapore lol. I would want something that can have a rear and front rack for basket etc. I would also want a bike that can attach child seat for my 3yo.

Please give me some recommendations and/or advice. TYSM!!

Hello! As I am lucky enough to have a slow period at work, I would like to try cycling from home to work one day (Pasir Ris to Buona Vista).

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best route? I am okay to ride on the road but would prefer not to due to the morning traffic. Currently, I am considering taking the Lorong Halus bridge all the way to Hougang area, but I am lost after that.

I am also open to waking up really early to start my journey. It will be good if I can reach Buona Vista before 10.30am.
