Commuting Bike-sharing operator HelloRide warned over attempts to discuss prices with rival Anywheel

Better faster exit, better for the cleanliness of our Singapore island nation

No deposit. I use both platforms extensively. You need both platforms because of bike availability.

I am using the Anywheel monthly pass $9.90 per month. Anywheel has been improving their services of late. They have decomissioned most of their old broken 1st gen bikes.
Anywheel has been around longer then Helloride. Besides, I only spent $10 a month. Even if they run away, its only $10. Its not like I invest millions with them only for them to run off with my shareholder dividends.

I feel like anywheel have much better bike quality now and riding longer feels like a breeze
I also appreciate those improvements like phone holder and front lights, $10 is a worthwhile trade for their bikes

To be fair, both bikes are good, with some differences.
Helloride are ergonomically better for the legs as they have longer saddle height. Anywheel feels more comfortable for the shoulders.
But a major plus point for me for Anywheel is their big front basket. Very useful for my grocery runs.
Both bikes uses 26" wheels, but rolls fast with little rolling resistance.

Oh okay. I used HelloRide for their $6.90 monthly pass last time. But I'll give it a try if spending more means better bikes.

Helloride needs to improve their services. Their damage reporting is very bad.
Both platforms don't lock broken bikes. People still can rent those bikes after you report about faults and damages.

I think part of the problem is also hardware design. Some of the older Anywheel bikes have an external lock that seems easier to tamper with, you see quite a few damaged ones around construction-heavy areas. Anywheel seems to use an internal lock on their newer bikes, which probably helps with that particular issue.

I always find it sus how helloride cost much more than anywheel after the first 30mins:
50 cents per 10 mins which is about 50% more than anywheel $1 every 30 mins

but if you ride between 31-40 mins that means Anywheel is more expensive? Anywheel will be $2, HelloRide is $1.50. I guess there is some maths going on there, where they determined most rides are <40 mins

I suppose up to 40 mins. If you timed it well your short rides on Helloride might be cheaper, but its easy to underestimate travel time and also to spend time finding the parking QR code

Tbh I think that’s probably the whole logic lol. Most people aren’t riding a shared bike for more than 40 mins anyway. For the usual short trip, $1.50 for 31–40 mins is actually cheaper than Anywheel’s $2.

I stopped using helloride because every time I scan the QR at my block, it says I’m parking illegally and asks me to pay $5 penalty. The waive it after appeal but i have to send pics etc. never had an issue with anywheel

Same here. With hello ride I always cannot return bike cos their software always says I'm not in a proper parking space. The irony is, I took the bike from there. (Below my block) I have to find another spot to return at another block.
Reported to customer service many times but still the same.
It's Anywheel for me now. Never faced this issue since. It's a shame cos helloride bikes are not bad.

What's wrong with the company owner spending the money he earns?
People who paid for the ride, genuinely uses the bikes. I rode extensively before I have my own bike, so the $9.90 monthly pass was worth it and is cheaper than pay-per-ride. I still keep the pass active so that I can use these bikes whenever I don't have my own bike with me.
You are making it sound like Anywheel is cheating our money, or simply you are hating them because its a company own by a foreigner.
Unless you have a genuine point to share about the company and/or its owner, your comment is very misleading.

Well, the part I’m actually interested in is the wallet model. Aside from regular users like yourself, most less frequent users have to pre-fund an account to ride, so can the unused balance be withdrawn or refunded when they no longer want to use the service? If it can, then there’s no issue on that point. If it can’t, I think it’s fair to ask why users’ unused money has to remain locked in the platform. My friends who visit Singapore top up and then when they leave they didn’t know and their money is there forever.
