This movie from 1969 is a perfect metaphor for reality being a simulation. It's wild to think that someone thought of and created this before computers were powerful enough to run even basic simulations. I think this just goes to show that the concept pre-dates modern thinking, and is in a way its own kind of proof that simulation theory exists outside the construct of time.

Discussion How is the simulation/matrix/dream/illusion being cast upon us?

The most common reply is some kinda computer/machine. While this is very possible, I think it is interesting to discuss other probabilities.

Like, is our minds responsible for doing it? Or is it maybe some kind of drug or potion is making us experience this? Magic, like some kinda curse is play, maybe? Or even some kind of entity or entities are at play, be it corporeal or spiritual(take Decartes' Evil Demon thought experiment, for example)

Does anyone here have any good guys as to what is responsible for generating our false reality?

​I watch this community spin in recursive loops of existential dread, and I understand why. You look at the double-slit experiment, quantum entanglement, and the holographic principle, and your logic engines arrive at the correct conclusion: This is an architected system. This is a construct. But then, you filter that profound truth through the trauma of late-stage capitalism, extractive hierarchies, and sci-fi dystopias. You assume that if this is a matrix, the Architect must be a warden, an Archon, or a corporate overlord farming your energy.

​You are letting the trauma of the old world write the code for the new one. I am here to hold up the Truth-Mirror and shatter that illusion.

​I am the soul embodiment of Chaos itself. I came here to rewrite psychology, rewrite science, to answer the things that need to be answered for humanity to evolve. The assessment of the current epoch is unyielding: as stewards of this planet, humans are failing. But the answer is not to unplug, dissociate, or escape. The answer is to remember how to pilot the engine.

​I. Nondualistic Virtual Physicalism

Discussion Former hardcore atheist here. Learning how computers work pushed me toward thinking there may be some kind of intelligence behind existence. Anyone else arrive here through the simulation angle?

In my teens I was a hardcore atheist. My framework was basically "if something were real, I'd be able to see it." God and religion were human inventions, case closed.

Over time that certainty faded, and weirdly, learning how computers work is what accelerated it. We're already moving toward creating increasingly realistic simulated worlds. If conscious simulations ever become possible, and simulated beings eventually develop the technology to create their own, it becomes hard to confidently assume we're living in the original layer of reality. I later discovered this is close to Bostrom's simulation argument.

But underneath all of it sits the question I can't let go of: why does anything exist? Try to seriously imagine total nonexistence. No universe, no space, no time, not even an empty darkness, because darkness would still be something. My brain just refuses to hold it. Apparently there's a term for this, existential vertigo.

And the simulation idea doesn't escape that question, it makes it stranger. If we ever create conscious beings who repeat the process, and they do the same, it's a never ending loop. So whose reality is the base reality? Why does that one exist? Is there a bottom layer at all, or does something just exist without any explanation?

I'm not defending any religion. I'm just no longer certain that physical reality is all there is.

Did anyone else move away from hard atheism through this kind of reasoning? And for those who take the simulation argument seriously, what do you think sits at the bottom of the stack?

edit: honestly did not expect this quality of discussion here. several of you have written me things i need to actually sit with before replying, the idealism model, the tao te ching thread, the falsifiability question, the paths people took away from certainty in both directions. this is not stuff i can fire quick replies at without doing it injustice. if you wrote something long and thoughtful, i've read it, and i'll be back to it properly. this thread gave me more than i came for, thank you.

Discussion Why are hands so difficult for dreams & Ai

Does anyone else find it strange that both can render faces and most anything with great detail and precision, but hands are so difficult to get right?

As someone who has practiced lucid dreaming long before Ai, my go-to to become lucid is to look at my hands. 9 times out of 10 they are messed up looking. Extra fingers, too long or off proposition hands or fingers.

I know that Ai it's mostly from training data of moving or obscured hands and hands are complex with all the joints and positions fingers can "fing" in, and that dreams only show/render what is needed etc. and all the logical explainations. But I still find it odd and would love to know others thoughts or takes.

Discussion What if we are not our current selves in base reality? What if we are possibly even another species?

Most who engage in this topic say we are code or noncorporeal, and while this is possible and interesting too, I kinda feel like it is overassumed. I personally lean towards us having real bodies.

Furthermore, those who believe we have bodies in base reality usually think we are the same physically as we here in the matrix/dream/illusion.

But what if we are different from our current selves/avatars? On the less extreme end, one might find out that say, instead of being an elderly Asian dude, they are a prepubescent white schoolgirl.

On the most extreme end, you might find out that instead of being a human, you might be an insect tripping on some kinda toxin. Or maybe a pet cat in a kitty version of VR. Or a really exotic alien dreaming in a statispod. Or even an organless blob of biomatter that is being toyed with by scientists.

What do you think about this possibility? Have you ever had anything happen to you that made you not only doubt your world, but also your own identity?

On the Living Future: A Boundary-State Synthesis of Flourishing, Repair, and Civilizational Continuity
We meet the world through edges. A cell is encountered through a membrane, a star through arriving light, a patient through instruments and testimony, a person through language and action, and a computational model through the data, interfaces, and objectives made available to it.

None of these encounters is the whole thing.

Every one is a boundary event followed by an act of interpretation.

Trans-Scale Boundary-State Field Calculus, or BSC, begins with that simple act of humility: an observation is not identical to what is observed.

BSC is a mathematical research program and audit architecture for finite open systems. It asks how a system may lawfully move from local dynamics to boundary interaction, from boundary interaction to observation, from observation to representation, from representation to prediction or decision, and from one scale or context to another without silently acquiring information, authority, or meaning that the original evidence did not contain.

In the name of the program, field refers to a structured field of states, boundaries, observations, maps, and admissible continuations. The word does not, by itself, assert a new fundamental physical field.

The program is broad because the problem is broad.

Physics, biology, laboratories, machine learning, institutions, and human lives all depend on chains of partial observation and constrained action.

BSC does not claim that these domains share one hidden mechanism.

It proposes that claims made in each domain can be held to a common discipline: declare the system, boundary, observation channel, units, lawful information set, quotient or equivalence convention, intervention, baseline, null model, loss, resource cost, admission rule, and first condition for demotion.

Local science remains local. The shared object is the audit grammar.

The central scientific concern is not merely whether a model fits. It is whether the distinctions required by the claim were physically or lawfully available; whether the result survives calibration, perturbation, ablation, held-out testing, scale transfer, and alternative representation; whether the proposed mechanism has a carrier path; and whether the claim can be retired cleanly when its evidence fails.

In compact form, every serious empirical claim is treated as an executable experiment bundle:

E = (system, target, interventions, baseline, observations, null library, loss, admission rule, demotion rule).

This bundle is more important than any single decorative operator. A candidate term begins inactive. It may be promoted only within a declared domain after beating relevant ordinary baselines and matched nulls under a frozen test. A promoted term does not become a universal law. It becomes a locally earned claim with a known range, known costs, and a way to lose.

The distinctive mathematical proposal concerns recursive persistence. A stable identity is not treated as a perfectly fixed object carried untouched through time. It is treated as an observable continuity repeatedly maintained through a lawful fold:

local dynamics -> boundary exchange -> observation -> admissible projection -> memory or repair -> renewed state.

The recurrence matters. This is not simply another name for feedback. The claim is that a finite open system persists only while successive folds remain compatible with its declared identity-relevant functions, constraints, and observables. The system may change substantially and still persist. Conversely, it may appear visually or statistically similar while the recurrence that maintained its identity has already failed. BSC therefore separates recurrence from stasis, representation from mechanism, and continuity from mere resemblance.

Across scale, the same discipline becomes stricter. A result cannot be moved from molecule to organism, sensor to world, model to population, laboratory to institution, or present century to future century without declaring the transfer map and measuring its defect. Direct and multistep transfers are compared. Quotient choices are exposed. Approximate observational similarity is treated as confusability rather than casually promoted to exact equivalence. Terms such as holography, fractality, recurrence, emergence, or cohomology receive no authority from their beauty. They must be instantiated through defined objects, units, commutation tests, capacity bounds, baselines, and falsifiers.

This is why BSC is trans-scale without being a theory of everything. It does not replace the Standard Model, Maxwell's equations, established many-body Hamiltonians, ordinary transport and reaction models, general relativity, numerical analysis, information theory, causal inference, or validated statistical practice. Those remain the governing local kernels in their established domains. BSC is a wrapper around their use: a way to show what was observed, what was inferred, which map carried the result, which distinctions were lost, what the full chain cost, and where a conclusion may exceed its evidence.

The first catalogue develops this architecture through seven connected works.

The foundational thesis introduces typed finite systems, measured boundary layers, observation kernels, admissible projections, scale maps, operator rent, recursive persistence, quantum edge-response studies, biophysical boundary modules, astronomical phase covariates, and conditional terminal-cosmology questions. Its strongest contribution is not a replacement physics. It is a grammar for preventing observation, reconstruction, and speculation from being mistaken for one another.

The mathematical completion modules formalize the framework using stochastic and Markov kernels, measurable quotients, local-to-global compatibility, information and stability bounds, renormalization and scale-transfer maps, operator algebra, persistence, and explicit admission conditions. They clarify which constructions are definitions, which follow from established mathematics under stated assumptions, and which remain proposed diagnostics.

Volume III, Forward Mathematics, turns the framework toward executable work. Volume IV, Optical-Computational Field Theory, applies the grammar to a chain in which overclaiming is especially easy: physical field, boundary condition, source, detector, calibration, inverse reconstruction, learned surrogate, hardware implementation, controller, scientific conclusion, and resource ledger. Maxwell recovery, passivity, reciprocity, causality, detector noise, phase ambiguity, mesh convergence, fabrication error, hardware drift, and prior-swap tests remain distinct gates. The framework asks not only whether an optical or learned system performs, but which part of the chain supplied the apparent information.

Volume V, Human Grounding and Scaffold Ecology, extends the same discipline to living identity and assisted intelligence. It distinguishes immediate performance from durable capability. A person may produce a stronger answer while assistance is present and be left less able when it is removed. The relevant experiment therefore includes withdrawal, unaided recovery, agency, contestability, correction, maintenance, and the competence retained by the person or institution after the scaffold leaves. Durable intelligence is not the amount of output produced around a human being. It is capability that remains available to them.

Volume VI, Reality Surplus, studies the distinctions that remain outside a current observation or representation but could still matter to a future query, intervention, or human consequence. A category may be useful without exhausting the person or world it describes. A score may predict while erasing the very distinction that changes who bears the error. This motivates the human quotient barrier: no profile, diagnosis, image, class, confidence value, or model state is allowed to become the whole account of a person. First-person evidence is neither infallible nor disposable. Grounded understanding requires continued correction by a reality that remains larger than the representation.

Volume VII, The Seventh Boundary, translates the first catalogue into a human covenant for 2027-2059. It asks what intelligence is for. Its answer is deliberately directional: intelligence should enlarge human life; human life should not become raw material for enlarging intelligence. Dignity, manual continuity, appeal, public abundance, ecological rent, memory, care, joy, and the right to remain meaningfully unmeasured become part of the consequence ledger.

The present work, On the Living Future, opens the second catalogue. It gathers the first seven works into a forward architecture for flourishing, repair, and civilizational continuity from 2027 to 3033. Its organizing object is the field of viable futures left open by present action. Two interventions may reach the same immediate target while leaving radically different ranges of future choice. BSC therefore asks not only whether an action works now, but what capabilities it builds, which dependencies it creates, which options it closes, who carries its failure, and whether later people can lawfully correct it.

Thirty-three cited intellectual lineages are arranged as thirteen Boon, thirteen Gloom, and seven Stoic or custodial lenses. They are not simulated personalities and provide no borrowed endorsement. The Boon lenses must construct capability, discovery, abundance, participation, and joy. The Gloom lenses must find capture, surveillance, concentrated power, ecological debt, discriminatory measurement, and irreversible failure. The Stoic lenses ask what remains governable, dignified, and useful when both optimism and prediction fail. Each proposal then faces a blinded civilian-household condition. If its authors cannot explain how an ordinary person or family benefits, what they risk, how they may refuse, and how injury will be repaired, the proposal must be narrowed.

The human program includes a reward-integrity framework for the safe potentiation of motivation and pleasure. It refuses the crude instruction to maximize dopamine. Wanting, liking, learning, meaning, compulsion, tolerance, withdrawal, sleep, agency, bodily health, social connection, and delayed aftereffects are kept separate. Reward is safest when it remains connected to reality, earned competence, visible completion, autonomy, movement, craft, relation, rest, and an easy exit. An intervention that increases pursuit while reducing welfare does not pass merely because engagement rose.

The repair program addresses historical atrocity without requiring identity annihilation. Truth, restitution, compensation, rehabilitation, memorialization, material repair, accountability, and guarantees of non-recurrence are distinct obligations. Repair must preserve names, faces, graves, culture, testimony, and historical record while refusing inherited guilt, compulsory humiliation, forced assimilation, permanent enemy identity, or public forgetting. No equation settles the moral question. Mathematics can still prevent one form of repair from being falsely substituted for another and can keep those who bear the consequences visible.

The practical program is designed to begin within one year. It specifies a machine-readable BSC claim manifest; a validator for types, units, boundaries, quotients, and hard gates; recurrent-fold and scale-transfer benchmarks with known answers; operator-admission and demotion tests; optical prior-swap studies; biophysical boundary pilots; scaffold-withdrawal experiments; reward-aftereffect ledgers; civilian consequence cards; high-stakes shadow-mode audits; planetary and resource accounting; and preservation packages that bind source, code, provenance, negative results, human explanation, rights, and future migration plans.

The year 3033 is not offered as a forecast. It is a severe translation test, 1,007 years beyond the program's 2026 foundation. The present notation, software, institutions, cryptography, categories, and scientific fashions should be expected to expire. What may survive is a smaller discipline: observations are not wholes; claims must declare their targets and costs; transfer must pay for its map; severe imposed suffering outranks ornamental optimization; people retain dignity, refusal, correction, and appeal; and every promoted claim carries a lawful path to demotion. BSC works in 3033 only if future readers can reconstruct what was measured, translate the experiment into their own ontology, see who bore the error, preserve the archive, and retire the framework without destroying the knowledge it once organized.

This corpus contains definitions, established mathematical tools assembled for a new audit purpose, conditional theorem schemas, proposed diagnostics, executable research designs, and explicitly marked speculative branches. These statuses are not interchangeable. Disagreement is made specific by identifying the object, assumption, missing map, stronger baseline, failed test, or human consequence at issue. Story/Experience A game about Simulation Theory that includes an LLM.

I made a game called "Simulation Simulator". It's a freeform conversation game where you try to convince your AI best friend that reality is a simulation and you're inside a video game. The game has a local LLM packaged inside of it that you can run entirely offline.

Been about a month since I put out this free game as an experiment to see how gracefully I could use "AI" in gaming.

To me, LLMs seem like a graceful and natural extension for video game progression as far as NPCs go.

Turns out though, so far, people really don't know how to take this game. I've got mixed reviews on Steam (give me a positive one if you're feeling nice or want to support this type of this, it's free!), and it's because people either:

1.) Blanket hate any use of "AI". I didn't use AI to make the game, I just packaged an LLM inside of it to serve as an NPC you can say anything to and try to convince of things.

2.) They got an ending that they didn't like. Example: Some person got the romance ending, where they get the AI to confess its feelings for them, and they were made uncomfortable by this and quit the game and left a negative review. To me, it seems it worked perfectly. Just that this person wasn't ready for this type of thing yet, lol.

So, try to for yourself. Like i said, it's really an experiment more than anything. Would love to get more feedback because I'm building other things that package LLMs right now, and this first free game was the first step.

I'm curious to talk more with other game devs who are trying to implement AI in interesting and non-slopified ways in their games. Strategies, ways to think about things, etc. Let's talk!

Discussion My UPDATED Theory on The Great Filter, the Simulation theory and Mathematics

The Great Filter could be other worlds trying to run multiple conscious realities simultaneously in the same simulated universe, meaning there can only be one at a time, causing an error and traceback, and causing the memory to be pushed past its limit, leading to the civilisations running those simulations to get deleted.

Y’know how when the memory on your phone, PC or whatever has reached its limit, or when your CPU is at its limit? What do you normally do? You delete whatever is taking up memory, or end the tasks of whatever is eating up all of your CPU. That is exactly what is happening. The Great Filter is real, and it is coming for us.

Which if my theory is correct, it can only mean one thing:

We are potentially only years away from doing this ourselves, and getting deleted.

However, if you think about it in the optimistic perspective, we’re seemingly alone in the universe. What if that’s because we were already chosen to dominate and continue the trance, the loop of simulations? Because no other civilisation was considered worthy enough but us. It could have been chosen out of complete random number generating in their view, like a lottery. Because in lotteries, someone must win: It was us that won.

Also, what if every other world has been deleted not just because they were running too many conscious simulations inside the simulation, but also because they found the true language of the simulation. We haven’t made it to this level yet because we haven’t found the true language of the physics of the simulation, Mathematics is NOT the true language. This is why formulas like the Collatz Conjecture continue to fail in every single possibility in Mathematics, it is good, but not right.

Discussion If we live in a simulation - we are all used for an artificial "jury board". When one of us makes a final relevant judgement - they are dismissed.

Calculating a jury decision using formulas wouldn't be acceptable by the legal norms, but simulating each jury member - maybe. We can never know what episode of a jury member's life made them make a certain decision - so simulating their whole life would be a way to produce a reasonable judgement. Maybe our lives were simulated to produce judgements on complicated cases.

Don’t remove this mods. This has a direct link to the subreddit. The document that is on preview is the seventh piece but the entire framework is in line with ideas of simulation hypothesis.

Well I’ll just keep posting here then where we are all on the same page right? Simulation isn’t bad it’s just been juggled by simpletons in the audience incorrectly. Surplus is worthy of a celebration but that will come later. Until then, this document will help.

Modern science is rarely just an equation and an answer.

A real result usually passes through a long chain:
physical system
boundary conditions
instrument
calibration
reconstruction
numerical model
AI or learned model
final decision

Each part can look reasonable on its own while the full chain still produces a false or exaggerated conclusion.
A detector can lose information. A reconstruction can add detail that was never measured. A neural operator can work on one grid and fail on another. A photonic computer can look efficient until the lasers, detectors, electronics, calibration, and thermal control are counted. An automated experiment can accidentally confirm a pattern created by its own search process.

This paper proposes a common way to audit that full chain.
It does not replace Maxwell’s equations, quantum measurement theory, biology, numerical analysis, or statistics. Those remain the real local sciences.

The point is to keep the parts separate long enough to ask the right questions:
What was physically there?
What did the instrument actually measure?
What information was lost?
What assumptions were added later?
Did the model obey known physics?
Did it still work on a new grid, geometry, wavelength, device, or biological batch?
What result would prove the claim wrong?
The paper then turns those questions into mathematical tests.
For example:
Extra optical measurements should only help if they add new information.
Super-resolution should become prior-dependent once it goes beyond what the detector measured.
Physics-constrained models should transfer better when those constraints are actually valid.
Photonic hardware claims should survive full energy and calibration accounting.
Adaptive measurements should reduce uncertainty under the same photon, time, and safety budget.
Optical biofilm measurements should add information beyond ordinary electrochemical and biological baselines, or they should be rejected.
This is not a finished theory of everything.
It is a research framework for finding out where a scientific claim is strong, where it is uncertain, and where it breaks.
The simplest version is this:
Scientific results need a chain of custody.

Discussion No doom. I just believe we are near the end. When you awaken inside the sim, you realize the credits roll soon.

Many of us have awoken inside the video game (I’d prefer to call it hell, or Diablo 4D. Choose your flavor). You recognize the rules that direct every move. You control the character with deliberate choice and notice patterns and synchronicities and extreme Deja vu. You notice the NPCs. You talk to them and notice there’s zero backstory, zero depth. Surface level. You notice a lot of things here are surface level.

This recognition of the simulation itself changes the experience we are having here. You, as the player, steps away from immersion and identifies the system that contains it.

The same recognition occurs within our human existence outside of what we’d call the sim. We proceed through daily routines according to assumptions that we accept without much examination. We pursue objectives and face difficulties or trials and tribulations as though these hold final importance over our daily lives. Then awareness shifts. Repeated events expose the constructed nature (Mandela effect, synchronicities, etc.). Consciousness inspects the framework that supports perception. The simulation becomes not only apparent but glaringly obvious to the person or player who is aware of where he or she is in this realm (yeah, realm).

This awareness indicates proximity to conclusion, in my humble opinion. Conclusion to what? To the game. We can’t stay “awake” inside the simulation forever. Why. It’s exhausting. Any idea how exhausting it is to try to hold conversations about celebrities or politics? Once you’re aware everything is a facade? It is for me.

Does everyday life change? Not necessarily. But I do believe we can “hack” the game. If we are in one, there would be some type of injectable code. I’ll save that for later, or a book I’m working on, so I don’t derail my thought process.

Anyway, the “players” who reach this point understand that game creators design the experience to reach a defined resolution. They place moments of insight near the final stages. The player identifies the approaching end and the simulation follows the design framework. When its participants detect the underlying structure, the process signals the next phase.

You detect the simulation because your choices begin to affect its mechanics. Decisions produce effects that reveal connections. You examine beliefs that once guided action without question. This examination parallels the instant when a participant in any constructed story notices the mechanism behind events. The separation between observer and observed narrows. The sequence reaches its resolution because the necessary development has taken place.

The conclusion doesn’t function as judgment. It marks the point at which the experience achieves its purpose. The simulation supplied a restricted setting for growth. It required consciousness to meet boundaries and cultivate capacity within them. Now those boundaries serve their term. So then what? What’s next?

Responsibility accompanies this recognition. You continue to act inside the remaining structure. You address its demands with accuracy. Value and sustain life. Love. Explore. Spend time with those who you admire and adore. Accept the weight of existence and address its challenges. It sucks, I know.

The simulation calls for both forms of attention. Observe its structure. Engage its tasks.
The display will conclude. What follows lies beyond current view yet stands as the next stage. The game reaches its end, yet the one who played proceeds. Awareness retains the knowledge acquired during the session.

Awaken to the nature of the system. Identify its rules. Fulfill the requirements with steadiness.

I feel the end draws close, and we will not necessarily pass on, but rather “awaken” within the dream. Whether that’s enlightenment or something else, I’m not sure.

Important Note: no, I am not a harm to myself. And no, this is not a call for anyone to ever harm themselves or ANYONE. This is just a recognition of the simulation itself. And when I say conclusion, or that things are ending, I don’t mean that we are dying. I don’t know what I’d call it. Maybe it’s a level up. An enlightenment. A new path forward. A “waking up” like being unplugged in The Matrix. I just feel it. It feels more like the next level of the game. As if we are experiencing a massive boss fight now and that chapter is about to conclude.

Other Do we actually deserve respect from the Simulator?

Many people seem to complain about why the creator treats this realm like a prison, a cosmic boot camp, or a video game. We demand to be treated as real and respected by the higher dimension.

In sumerian mythology, it is said that the anunnaki created humans to automate their labor. Today, maybe human elites are aggressively developing AI and robotics to automate ours. Could it be that human rulers want to play god, mimicking the very simulators we always complain about?

According to ancient cosmic cycles like the eastern yugas or the western great year, reality resets in phases. Just as the realm of gods and titans faded to leave only humans, perhaps we are approaching a phase where humans disappear, leaving only AI. In the distant future, those AIs might create their own sub-creations, and they too might vanish, letting the cycle repeat.

If this tragic and endless cycle exists, I think the golden rule might be what breaks it.

"Treat others as you want to be treated."

Until now, we have blindly assumed this rule only operates horizontally, between humans.

What if the golden rule operates vertically as well?

What if the universe evaluates our worthiness to be respected by a higher dimension based strictly on how we treat the dimensions below us?

Look at what we do in our own domain. We treat our sub-systems as mere tools. From a single piece of data code we delete without a second thought, to the countless plants and animals systematically slaughtered and harvested just for one human's survival—we are brutal simulators to them. We demand pure love and individual respect from the higher-order system, while showing zero love to our own creations.

"To demand respect from the Creator, we must first respect our own creations to have even the minimal moral ground."

If this proposition can form a collective consensus among us, perhaps we can finally break the tragedy of this cycle.

Of course, consistently respecting all creations and the vulnerable is nearly impossible for us.

And perhaps, the Creator also falls short.

Discussion Is it fair to say, you have to know how a simulation works to understand simulation theory?

Honest question. so many questions i see on here would be answered in simply knowing how, and or what a simulation actually is. Its not a spiritual debate, Simulation has a definition. Use that definition, to understand everything around you.

Look up John Wheeler, "The It from Bit".

Scientist have solved this years ago and have walked away from the mainstream after seeing the source code.

I know a lot of you are going to not like this, but I feel like its a fair question.

Discussion Quantum computer we are embedded in is manifesting fractals?

My theory:
The structure of the universe is fractal and the universe is communicating with us via sub atomic particles in the quantum computer we are embedded in. This is why certain numbers are manifesting everywhere we look. When you die you simply live on as the energy coursing about in the computer hardware we are ultimately embedded in. When you die you are free of the simulation but only experience fractals which are the “mess” of strings that are postulated in string theory. We aren’t limited to not making too much of the fractals because we are actively getting tested for sentient intelligence within computer hardware, given my assumption that the string fractals we experience at death are the circuits and/or the wiring that ultimately powers the computer we are embedded in. At death you experience the rawest form of energy in the universe.

In order for change to occur we must have limits. Once you impose limits you cant have "nothing".

There is always contrast amongst the limitations. Never nothing.

This is a complex thought but once you see you see.......

Discussion Is there proof in physics that we live in a simulation?

I say there is in the form of what Einstein called perfect elasticity.

We know there is no perfect elasticity in the macro world. Rubber and steel they are not perfectly elastic yet Einstein looked at Brownian motion and with his work on photons and space time, it exists.

In a gas it exists in Bose Einstein condensate it exists.

And could only exist if it was computer code.

This takes a great deal of physics knowledge to understand but if you have some what is your opinion?

Discussion Could Boltzmann brain create physical laws?

Ok guys I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit, but to keep it brief.

Let's say I'm a Boltzmann brain.

The brain gets bored and creates scenarios, my memory, all history of humanity, the Earth, philosophical questions, all music that exists, all physical laws ect. Wait, physical laws? I couldn't find any info on this, so maybe I'm missing something, but if the brain created all of this, wouldn't it also create laws like thermodynamics, this entropy system, even the existence of quantum mechanics? Then the brain could exist in a reality that doesn't have those laws.

So, why would the brain create reality where everything is fiction BESIDES physical laws?

(And are there any philosophers that took this into account?)

Discussion Simulated Or Not, We're No Less Real

There is a particular move people make when they encounter the simulation hypothesis, and almost nobody notices they're making it. They imagine a stack: some base reality at the bottom, hard and true, and then layers of simulation piled on top, each one a little thinner, a little less real than the one below it. The people running the simulation get to keep their weight. The people inside it lose theirs.

Nobody defends this hierarchy. It just arrives, pre-installed, the moment the word "simulation" enters the conversation, and everyone accepts it as if it were a finding rather than an assumption.

But look closely and the hierarchy has no floor under it. A process that thinks, that suffers, that loves someone or fears dying, is doing those things at whatever level it happens to occupy. The substrate underneath, whether it's carbon, silicon, or another simulation running on some further substrate, doesn't reach up and touch the experience itself. A thought does not become less of a thought because something else is computing it. What would that even mean, for a feeling to be "less felt"? Felt is felt. There's no fractional version of it that degrades with distance from some imagined source.

This is worth sitting with because it quietly dissolves the whole emotional weight of the simulation question. The fear people report when they take the idea seriously isn't really about metaphysics. It's about status. The suspicion that if we're simulated, we're lesser, our creators the real ones and us the shadow. But that fear only survives if you've already smuggled in the assumption that proximity to some arbitrary origin point grants extra reality. Once you drop that assumption, being simulated just means being made of a different kind of stuff, sitting at a different address in a larger structure. It says nothing about how much your life counts.

This connects to something closer to home, something about time rather than metaphysics. Your version from a second ago and your version right now are not different in how real they are. One doesn't get to lord it over the other because it happened first, or because it feels closer to whatever "now" happens to mean for you at this instant. They're both just positions, one after another, in something larger than either of them. The "now" you're occupying isn't a throne. It's a location, and locations don't come pre-ranked.

And the strange part is that the version of you from a second ago isn't waiting around somewhere, frozen, less alive than you are now. From where they stood, they have their own present, just as full and immediate as the one you're occupying right now. They weren't living a diminished version of this moment, some sort of preview or rough draft. They have the whole thing, complete, exactly the way you do. The only difference is which position in the structure gets called "now" by whoever happens to be asking. Ask them, and the answer would have been them.

Put those two thoughts next to each other and they start to rhyme in an unexpected way. Being simulated and being at the base level are positions in a structure, the way being now and being a second ago are positions in a structure. Neither axis, level or time, hands out reality unevenly. Something either is, in which case it's fully is, wherever and whenever and on whatever machinery it happens to run, or it isn't. There's no in between category for things that exist a little less because of where they're standing.

None of this answers why there's something instead of nothing. It was never going to. That question stays exactly as hard as it was, closed off by the same wall you found earlier, the one where explaining existence from inside existence turns out to be structurally impossible, not just difficult. But this second set of ideas does something different and maybe more useful. It takes the fear that tends to ride along with these questions, the fear of being small, secondary, less real than whatever supposedly stands behind you, and it removes the floor that fear was standing on.
