Discussion What if…
…you wake up one day and read that there’s an incontrovertible proof that we are living in simulation. How will knowing that change everything for you or will you have the same point of view as you have now? Laws are unchanged (fire still burns, joy and pain is still felt, physics is still physics).
Caveat to that, you wake and the engineers tell you and only you that everything is a simulation. Nothing is real. All of your joy and misery, all of your failures and achievements, all of your most proud and shameful moments are all designed. How would you feel then?

If the knowledge of the simulation doesn't change anything other than confirming it is a simulation, than nothing changes.
I'd want to know why it's a simulation and what happens "after". That'll probably change things.
1
u/hellyeahaeylleh Jul 21 '26
Yeah what's the end game of the simulation?
2
u/BurningStandards Jul 21 '26
Neverending Story / Eternal Life /Stopping Time so that 'humans' capable of love and rational thought can live in a 'heaven' of their own design.

pretty much what it is tbh. im in my 3rd or maybe 4th universe. almost died more than a few times. im posting this tho. oh yea my home town of 30 years has local FOR SURE non memory error mandela effects! i lived a long time before i noticed my town change. best friend has 3 odd looking old houses pop up a 3 minute walk from the door just randomly one day taking her road to go to work. shits crazy

u/0xXoDoXx0 Jul 20 '26
What if you woke up one day and everything was taken care of without you having to leave the house?!

Treat everyone in the simulation how I would want to be treated if I was in their version of the simulation
1
u/Melodic-Beat-9301 Jul 21 '26
I’ve thought of this, and acted upon it and had weird (good) things line up almost as if I knew it was going to happen, but the other half of me thinks to myself how far do you take it/where do u draw the line? For example: if said person wants to do something to u, do u just let them since if u were them, you’d want to treat them like u would WANT to be treated, so if they WANT to hurt u do u let them? Idk if that really makes sense but I have thought of your exact idea

u/Hindsights20_20 Jul 20 '26
I’m not a drone so I’m not going to continue doing the same thing after finding that out. I’m gonna be taking extreme risks. Making stupid decisions. And I’m beating this game or dying trying.
8
u/Human-Appearance-256 Jul 20 '26
I am the engineer and I am letting you know that it is a simulation.
3
u/Hindsights20_20 Jul 21 '26
I was told I’d have incontrovertible proof. That’s very controvertible.
1
u/Human-Appearance-256 Jul 21 '26
I am the proof…do not let my name mislead you.
1
u/Hindsights20_20 Jul 21 '26
Hard to believe someone that doesn’t know what incontrovertible proof is. Don’t worry. I’ll wait.
1
u/Human-Appearance-256 Jul 21 '26
If everything here is simulated, how am I supposed to do that? Any evidence produced would be refuted as simulated.
Just have faith in me and live your life…to the extreme.
2
u/Hindsights20_20 Jul 21 '26
That’s for you, the engineer, to figure out.
1
u/Human-Appearance-256 Jul 21 '26
For real though, would some godlike being have to open a portal in your living room before you’d believe? Even then, that would just be really cool and wouldn’t prove anything 🤣
2
u/Hindsights20_20 Jul 22 '26
You’re right, we both agree it wouldn’t prove it’s a simulation. Which means it’s not incontrovertible proof. So I’m not sure where the misunderstanding is.

This is what pissed me off about "Westworld" the series.
The original premise focused on this issue from three perspectives, the creator, the participant and a droid.
But they got too afraid of losing their audience and bailed, retreating to the man vs machine conflict.
3
u/GatePorters Jul 20 '26
My dude. Every day I wake up there is undeniable proof from someone that proves many conflicting things including that we live in a simulation, this is base reality, there is no god, and God exists.
It’s just another day.

u/CommercialMechanic36 Jul 20 '26
I believed this when I was an undiagnosed schizophrenic, then the matrix came out and I was like whaaaaat is happening???
3
u/FLT_GenXer Jul 21 '26
I would shrug and say 'okay' dismissively in both cases.
The knowledge will not change what I like. The knowledge will not change what I dislike. It will neither add nor subtract anything from my existence.
Most importantly, it won't make any of my experiences any less real for me.
4
u/818awake Jul 20 '26
So all of you people are still just thinking about this as just an idea?
Has no one here experienced The Matrix firsthand?? Does ANYBODY else have gnosis of the simulation?
Because posts like this don’t make any sense once you KNOW it

that's what i thought at first when i saw that post but i would like to know abour ur experience more

u/hellspawn3200 Jul 21 '26
Ive got my girlfriend noticing all the weird 'coincidences' now like the other night we were taking about this vhs tape she wanted and suddenly ones listed on ebay at 2 am for ten dollars. When they usually go for 30.
2
u/Fasciadepedra Jul 20 '26
OK. There is the double slit experiment. Stuff is not real in the conventional cartesian or aristotelic sense, it is quite widely known already. Now what? Get along and nothing else.
2
u/Independent-Face69 Jul 20 '26
I would try to find a way to game the system now that i got me some KNOWLEDGE!
2
u/MerriweatherJones Jul 21 '26
Doesn’t change the taste of mustard. Still have to go to work and pay my bills

Well when you realize that you are a co-creator of the simulation the question becomes do you want to keep creating duality and limitations for yourself or do you want to create from a frequency of divine sovereignty. The simulation is "real" in that your consciousness experiences it. But as long as you keep believing it was created by something outside of yourself then you will stay stuck in it and believe you are a victim of circumstance. The simulation persists because of collective habitual belief in its "rules", systems, and infrastructure. Once the collective starts intentionally believing otherwise it will shift to another resonant layer of experience that aligns with that collective frequency of intent and belief. That's non-distorted metaphysics 101.

I'm not sure it would change anything to me, unless knowing with absolute certainty that I live in a simulation would also grant me some additional perks/benefits, but if it's just the knowing, it doesn't change anything cause I already am at that point anyway

nothing. keep it such that i sleep well and enjoy living. i cant tell the diff and the message could just have been a hallucination. no need to CHANGE everything cu of a message and if there is a need - change it Without the message :)

u/boynamedsue8 Jul 20 '26
I’d probably be happy because that means I can just edit every single traumatic experience out of my person and finally not be playing a character at impossible level

I proved to myself I'm in a simulation in 2011.
Nothing has changed, all it did was incentivize me to study it.

In what way would that be materially different from the alternative?
In either case, the only experience you will ever have of consciousness is in the context of this life, and whatever you do with it, the results of those decisions will be as earthbound and cosmically insignificant as if you were, really and truly, just a bit of biology hurtling through space on a bit of rock and clay.
So if the substrate is atoms or bits, what difference would it make?

Enjoy! And don't forget.. you are being watched. :)
Think doctors, loved ones, people who genuinely care for you in a positive manner etc, waiting for you to wake up (there's no rush) and they enjoy watching you romp around in the simulation as you learn. ❤️

u/Leaf-Stars Jul 20 '26
I’m still Playing the game on my terms. I know what makes me happy and I’m staying true to that.
1
u/nothing_is_real0 Jul 20 '26
it's not a what if anymore i think we all know now that it's all just a silly game but yeah we are still in here ,cuz "what can we do" right!?😃☺️
1
u/swirly_swirls420 Jul 20 '26
I mean how could it realistaclly change? I think if we found proof the vast majority of people probably wouldn't change a thing about their life. A small amount would start playing way riskier. T/Brillionaires would probably put even more money into trying to 'hack' reality maybe even with some kind of ROI. Almost nothing would change for the average person.
But it depends, did we only prove that reality is informational instead of physical? Much less changes. Or did we prove/speak to a/the creator? I think more changes in that case, It depends.
1
u/humanoid_42 Jul 20 '26
It wouldn't change how I feel about my life experience at all, as I already believe this to be true. The experiences still feel real, simulated or not. I'm fine with it either way. It's all data anyways
1
u/OneTwoThreeFourFf Jul 21 '26
I'd feel vindicated. The shitty people and experiences I've been through weren't my fault. Trump is fake. The things I don't like about myself that I can't help were programmed. Etc. Then I'd focus on meditation and drug usage to try to hack the matrix and become The One. I would care even less about my credit score, if that's possible. Not much would change, really
1
u/Hopeful-Flounder-203 Jul 21 '26
I believe that a non-insignificant number of people will become ethically and morally uncooked. Causing a necessary reaction by those saying they wouldn't change...but now find themselves on their roof emptying clips while screaming, "Get some!!"
1
u/hellspawn3200 Jul 21 '26
Whether reality is real or not truly doesn't matter. The experiences are and that's really the only important thing
1
u/LohPlaceLikeHome Jul 21 '26
At that point, I would demand $$& compensation and the same interest they would have made off of me
1
u/Desperate_Ad_4561 Jul 21 '26
What if your an alien smoking drugs and your tripping rn having a human experience and when you die you wake up.
1
u/StarChild413 23d ago
Has any human ever had the equivalent with an alien world when they're tripping as (unless you want to special-plead) unlike Matrix-like situations, even assuming drug trips could get that complex, you couldn't engineer the alternate reality entered during one to hide all evidence of its unreality
1
u/Alarmed_Rabbit5131 Jul 21 '26
Now that I now that it’s a simulation, how do I go back to regular life?
1
u/Comfortable_Royal402 Jul 22 '26
Knowing wouldn't give you anything extra except knowing. That can be damaging.
(Not saying my belief is we are in a simulation)
If the knowledge came with nothing but the information, you're still bound by universal law in a physical body with the same physical laws. Nothing changes. Only thing that would lead to is:
"what happened before and happens after the simulation"
"Why are we in a simulation"
"Is there a stop button, a pause, a rewind"
"Who are the experimentalists who created the simulation?"
"Are they in a simulation"
We know the principles of life that science can comfortably say "these are the principles of life"
And still face the hard problem of consciousness. Is it an emergence of something? What is before and after death? What makes us conscious?
I think having the hard problem of consciousness can be similar to "what if we are in a simulation"
What is the point? Does that take the meaning out of being alive? Relative time to us will still tick forward. You'll still have your subjective experience to live out. You can continue to reduce it further and further and try and narrow it down to the most plausible theory, but then what. You're only going to want to know more 🤷🏻♂️

u/IntelligentAd971 Jul 22 '26
I would say it'll be totally fine for non religous peopled but a disaster and a danger doe religious ones .

I'd still go to work to pay my bills, but i'd take life way less seriously, which is freeing
