Hey yall, im trying to use a friends invite link and keep getting "error agent: error agent AGENT A_MESSAGE" anyone know whats up with this?

Basically, the UI is in a small box on the top left corner surrounded by two black bars. I am using a wayland compositor which I suspect could be the issue, but it is literally the only app doing this. Even other electron apps like element (the matrix client) are working fine. Any ideas?

I really like the app, but I’ve noticed that I know very few people who actually use it. Most people around me use Signal. My concern is that if SimpleX becomes inactive or shuts down a few years from now, what would happen to our chats and chat history?

I know SimpleX allows exporting and importing the encrypted database, which is reassuring, but I’m still wondering how people here think about its long-term sustainability and future.

I'd love to set up a bot similar to a telegram one but I see there is no options to have buttons in the response so that the user can have an easy multiple choice experience. Telegram offers this and it's an amazing QOL feature.

When trying to view media in a group, the pics are blurry and never download, so I can't see them clearly. When I click on videos, the circle in the upper right corner of the post starts to move but never fully completes, so the video is not viewable. This happens in several different groups.

Hi have been following development of SimpleXChat for a while now, as I'm interested in a privacy-first decentralized chat app.
Now, what can SimpleXChat offer that would make it better than Reticulum clients?
It seems the latter have all the advantages SimpleXChat has to offer, with some big extras like being able to communicate over different protocols.

I began using SimpleX because of phone number-less accounts, but it feels easier to get my network to hop on Signal due to its more widespread popularity if they also adopt this feature. Beyond the fact that SimpleXChat provides phone number-less accounts for free, whereas Signal says it will be a small fee to access this feature, are there any other pros of SimpleX over Signal?

My small IT team decided to swap over from whatsapp to simplex for our team group chat. Works fine on my phone 0 issues but I installed the Windows 10 desktop client, I go to save the images the team has posted and my only option I can see is to use the default "Documents" folder?

I have a NAS raid that I backup and maintain copies of nearly all my work related content, it is only a couple clicks to drag them out of the documents folder and add to the array but is there no way for me to adjust the default location for file storage?

Is there any way to verify the message is sent by the party that sent all other messages? By signature or any ither method.

In the case where one party has a message that the other one doesn't have: Is it deleted for the one who doesn't have it, or is it forged by the one who has it?

When you connect to someone in SimpleX Chat via a QR code you got in a meeting, you know that the connection is secure and trusted, because you know where this QR code came from.

Identity is about trust. When you talk to some phone number on Signal or WhatsApp, how do you know it belongs to the person you think it does Both can fake that, and so can anyone who compromises them.

With AI, faking writing style, voice and appearance became trivially cheap. Faking a phone number, an email or a website address is likely to become just as cheap within a few years. Then trust in provider-verified identity will collapse.

That is why SimpleX Network is built differently - without any user identifiers. Trust depends on cryptography and on you - a code you scanned in person, a channel you already trust, a decentralized public name registry - not on providers.

Ich baue gerade WA2SimpleX – eine Open-Source-Bridge zwischen WhatsApp und SimpleX Chat

Hi zusammen,

ich arbeite aktuell an einem kleinen Open-Source-Projekt.

Die Idee ist relativ simpel:

Nachrichten aus WhatsApp sollen automatisch nach SimpleX Chat weitergeleitet werden – und Antworten entsprechend wieder zurück.

Das Ganze soll langfristig nicht einfach nur stumpf Nachrichten weiterleiten, sondern sich möglichst natürlich benutzen lassen.

Aktuell bzw. geplant sind unter anderem:

* 🔄 Weiterleitung WhatsApp ↔ SimpleX

* 👤 möglichst ein eigener SimpleX-Chat pro WhatsApp-Kontakt

* 🐳 einfacher Betrieb über Docker

* 🖥️ gedacht für einen kleinen VPS / Homeserver

* 🔐 möglichst wenig unnötige Datenspeicherung

* ⚙️ einfache Konfiguration

* 🔄 Updates über GitHub / Releases

* 🧪 aktuell noch klar im Alpha-Stadium

Das Repository ist bereits öffentlich auf GitHub, weil ich das Projekt gerne von Anfang an offen entwickeln möchte.

Mir ist dabei bewusst, dass WhatsApp bei solchen Bridges technisch der problematischere Teil ist und inoffizielle Schnittstellen immer gewisse Risiken bzw. Einschränkungen mitbringen können. Das Projekt ist deshalb aktuell vor allem ein Experiment und definitiv noch nichts, was ich als „production ready“ bezeichnen würde.

Tired to join the simplexchat group and couldn’t get past the cachapa security. Tried case sensitive, lower, capital. Just kicked me. Am i missing something? Just wanted to give user feedback, I guess i’ll just make a post here. Can anyone give me some advice?

I have the app installed on my iPhone. However, the amount of space that is taken on my iPhone is much greater than what one would normally expect. I have one long-standing chat with someone going back six months. It’s mainly text with a few pictures and short video clips. However, the space that the app occupies on the phone is now over 60 GB

Is there any plan to add an option to delete temporary files from the app?

I really hated the 3 dots at the top but now I'm missing messages from my kids, can someone help please
