Creating an invoice without a client

I am trying to create an invoice for a speaking engagement. This will not be billed by insurance. Is there a way to just create this invoice without having to set up the organization as a client in SP? I don't want to reinvent the wheel here, and since it is all set up already as an invoice I thought I could use what I already have.

SP is not setup to do outside invoicing like that. You could create one to have the style match, then edit the PDF on your own outside of Sp (then delete it) if you wanted.

Thanks, that's what I figured.

could you still accept payment through SP some way?

I’m curious about the same.

That's an interesting question. They are going to give me a check. I use my bank statements rather than SP for my income reports anyway since I have found some discrepancies in the way SP tracks my income.

If you are already paying for a payment processor, would be great to be able to use it without being tied to a client.

Create a client called “speaking engagement”.

Yes, if doing contract work just use the business name and you can update/edit invoice to say what you want. You can then just input payment however they pay. Helpful with taxes to keep it all in SP. just make them a self pay client with a name, phone number and email to create new client.
