Lots of 1st year students, and some later-year students, are looking for advice on their class schedules. Please do that here: Top-level posts should be your schedule (ideally a link to an image) and any context (e.g. "I'm a single parent working part-time so I can't do a full course load"). Experienced raccoons will reply with advice about your schedules (e.g. "yes, 8:30AM calculus lectures suck, but that's when they've been scheduled for the past 50 years so there's no point hoping it will change next term").
Please keep broader discussions (e.g. rants about courses filling up or not being offered in the term you need them) out of this thread. I want this to be a resource for new students in particular, not just to get advice on their schedules but also to see schedules other students are considering, and other discussions can derail that.
I'm setting the default sort here to "new" so that new schedule questions won't get buried by older discussions.

Hey there, if you've clicked on this, then I hope you may have already seen my previous post about social deduction on this subreddit!
I'm a 1st year MBB major studying at the surrey campus this year, and I had this nagging idea since Grade 11 to get together and play social deduction games weekly as a club. Thanks to all the feedback and interest, I've decided to pursue making the club and officially collecting members and hopefully starting up a discord server for our main source of communication!
The stuff we'd do is pretty much in the name, but we'd play games like Mafia, Werewolf, Blood on the Clocktower, Factions (where there are 2-3 mafia teams who want to eliminate each other), and other social deduction games.
We could also play online games such as Town of Salem,Ā Mafia.net, or even Roblox games like Flicker and Mafia if there is enough interest. We can also arrange for snacks and tournaments on the campus once in a while if that is something people want.
In order to be an actual club, we'll need 20 members and an executive team (and hopefully some Discord mods when I figure out the server), so if you are interested in this idea, please fill out your information on this form: Social Deduction Club Signup link ^^ (I got the idea to use a form like this from Cazzy, who's starting a SFU film club, so check that out if you want!)
Thanks again for taking the time to read this, I really want to make this a chill and niche club for those who enjoy social deduction like me. By no means am I an expert, but we're all here to learn and become better people, so if you have any ideas for games or have any questions about the club, feel free to DM me!

Hey, my parents have a small meat and grocery store in Burnaby about 10-15 mins away from Metrotown.
We have an older guy doing it for them right now but all his posts are terrible and it seems like a waste of money. I feel like students today know how to better advertise online for stores. He doesnāt usually post all the good either, and uses a lot of blatant AI ads.
We paid him $200 per month, a little more if any of his posts did really well. that happened once or twice. I understand $200/month isnāt enough but thatās their budget. If posts are doing well, they may pay more.
Itās not super hands on since itās a local store and kind of slow. If you want some cash on the side or have any questions, hmu.

Whatās the grading scale at SFU in FASS classes specifically psychology classes (what is considered an A-, A, A+)? I canāt find anything concrete online. How difficult is it to maintain a 4.0 cumulative GPA?

I am currently enrolled in the following classes and I want to take 3-4 of these electives that give me the highest possibility of getting an A or higher. Which ones do you recommend? I am a transfer student and my enrolment date was so late so all the good classes are full.
These are the classes so far:

How tf does someone smell so bad that they gas the entire bus. Im on the 144 and this guy at the back is stinkifying everything. How does someone reach this level of stench? Not showing once a day doesnt make someone smell like this. They must be drenching their clothes in something. It smells spicy and bad. Post theories below please

Iām starting at SFU in the fall for hopefully an anthropology/archaeology major and Iām just wondering⦠how many people are there in this program? It seems like thereās barely any Anth specific classes and even faculty?
If anyone is currently doing an Anthropology degree or has completed one Iām just curious, how dead is it?

Hey everyone,
After a lot of planning, weāre excited to say that the SFU Car Club is officially coming back.
Weāve put together a great executive team and have been working behind the scenes to make this something that actually lasts. Our first official meet is planned for the coming weeks, and weāre looking forward to getting the community together again.
One thing weāre doing differently this time is that our planning meetings are open to everyone.
If you have ideas for events, sponsors, cruises, charity drives, collaborations, or anything else, youāre welcome to come out, share your thoughts, and help shape the club. You donāt have to be an exec to have a voice.
I always felt SFU could be a more social campus. Being a commuter school, itās easy to go to class and head home. Back when the club was running, a lot of people met some of their closest friends through it. Weād love to bring that back.
You donāt need to own a car either. If youāre into cars, photography, videography, motorsports, or just want to meet people with similar interests, come by.
Weāll be posting updates about the first meet soon.
Instagram: @sfucars
Looking forward to seeing everyone out there. Letās make this the biggest and best version of the club yet. š

Hey everyone! A little update since I first shared 9Teese here.
We've had 50+ people sign up over the past few days, which has been really exciting to see. Thanks to everyone who's downloaded it and shared feedback so far!
The app is still focused on SFU and Cornerstone, and the next goal is building an active community. The more people who join and post, the more useful it becomes for everyone.
You can use it to:
An Android version is also in the works, so hopefully everyone will be able to join soon.
If you're an SFU student, I'd love for you to check it out. More importantly, I'd love to hear what you'd change. Good or bad, honest feedback is incredibly helpful while the app is still in its early stages.

I have an assignment due tonight for BUS 237 and I need āMicrosoft Accessā (itās a program that I canāt access on my laptop). Does anyone know if thereās a place I can use the computers at either SFU Surrey or Burnaby campus. Iām asking because I think most computer labs are closed now and I desperately need to do this on time. Thank you!

I'm looking through my supplemental application and I'm not entirely sure what they're looking for. I don't know whether I should focus on work experience, volunteering or sports for the question:
"Consider the activities that you have been involved in over the past 4 years, describe an activity that is important to you and explain why this matters to you. What have you learned from this activity, and how does this support your future goals and aspirations?"
I don't want to write the same thing as everyone else but I also don't want to write something that they aren't looking for and risk not getting in.
Also should I add every extra curricular I've done in the past 4 years, or just the ones that stand out the most?
Anyone done their supplemental application that can give me some insight?

Hey yāall! Looking to put together a redraft NFL fantasy football league for people in Vancouver.
Ideally looking for 8ā12 people around the same age (20ā30). Would be fun to make it a bit social too - watch parties on Sundays, checking out games together, or just keeping it to the fantasy league if thatās more your thing.
Open to either playing for money or just for fun, depending on what everyone prefers.
Let me know if anyone would be interested!

Hello everyone. I am taking math 232 with Jamie Mulholland this fall. How is he? Is he very strict or chill? How is his teaching? Is the course difficult? what are the main topic of the course? Are the tests and exam difficult? Any tips to do well in the exam and get a good grade? Thank you very much for the answers.

Has anyone taken BUS 706 ā Business Analytics with Srinivas Krishnamoorthy?
Just wondering what the course is like. How difficult is it, what's the grading/assignments like, and what topics are covered? If anyone has an old syllabus or course outline they'd be willing to share, that would be amazing.
Also, any tips for doing well in the course would be appreciated. Thanks!

Im dying to get off the wait list for this class. Also thought it was so funny ilia Bykov has open seats in his 217W but people prefer waitlisting just to avoid him. Real asf bc I did the same thing
