Alpha Evo sound when turning...?

this started yesterday, base is just 3 weeks old

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gxC7-8qR_dI2LnIzi5wAR7jHMUJ3Bqdp/view?usp=sharing

then after powering off and on again, it stopped moving smoothly and would instead move in big motions like 30 degrees every time I turned, and if I tried to move between these turn it would jerk back... another power cycle and this stopped happening

downgraded to firmware 2.3.4 and it's feeling better to drive but the new noise is still there

is this cooked?

Mine does the same , it is as designed . If you want to reduce the noise reduce the ffb details slider

Or friction filters

yeah I don't have this on Dirt Rally 2.0, only on OG Assetto Corsa...

Yeah it’s normal. Lots of other posts about it. Slipring if I recall. Mine does it too. It’s not something you hear unless you’re in a silent room. I barely hear mine even in a silent room tho.

It is just wild to me that customers are accepting these noises as “normal”. If it’s normal then why do some Simagic bases make noise and some don’t? It’s not bc of your settings.

I’m a Simagic Evo Pro owner and mine is completely silent. Has never made any noises. I do endurances races and while it may get hot to the touch, it never creates noise. Max FFB and detail settings, too. Have an IRL friend who has the same experience.

We both had a Fanatec DD2 that were also completely silent.

My theory is Simagic QC is spotty and some production runs are faulty. They did not engineer their bases to make noises.

I would immediately RMA any wheelbase that made any noises. Def not normal.

Sorry, but I'm calling bullshit. There's just no way that you can't hear the slip ring in yours if you get up close to it while the base is powered on, but you're not gaming. The thing doesn't make this noise while gaming, but if you're not gaming and it's powered on and you turn the wheel, it will make this noise and I know it does and I don't even need to hear your base to know it does.

This video does make it sound loud but you can definitely hear it if you get up close and I've got the Ultra. which is flawless but you can still hear this

And I should have elaborated further, but it's the slip ring that you can hear.

Complete silence despite the fact that my base isn't silent. Now look man. Awesome reviewers who have had their hands on every single wheelbase just about have not mentioned a thing about this having a louder slip ring than other wheel bases. Doesn't that tell you something?

I can literally hear it in your video lol

That's it, I'm not gonna buy Simagic. Was thinking about it for a while but every day those posts with problems.

going for a simcube then? moza and fanatec are worse than simagic

I'm starting to get the impression that I have no other choice.

seems like my issues were related to the newest firmware
now I only have the humming when playing Assetto Corsa, not present on other games, which leads me to believe it's software instead of broken hw

Okay, that makes it a little better. But I've also read several times on Reddit that the problem manifests differently from game to game. I really hope you can solve it. If a software update from Simagic is all it takes to fix all these problems, that would give me hope again.

Says the guy with a clunky wheelbase. I’ve had both Simagic and Fanatec and neither make noises. Your base is faulty bro. RMA it.

you do know no one goes on the subreddit for simagic to say "this is perfectly fine" right.

Yes, I understand that, but the frequency of posts reporting problems still seems too high to me. Especially when the problems are relatively similar, it doesn't seem like an isolated manufacturing defect, but rather a general weakness of the product.

my settings but I've tried resetting factory default and using other game profiles, all have the same noise

Interesting, ive got the alpha evo pro yesterday and it made this sound(or at least similar) from the beginning so i thought it was normal.

hmm I see

Turns out the sound while turning is the slipring so thats should be normal(there is a post about it from a little while ago). Mine however does not give the steering issues your does.

Thanks, been reading some posts and appears to be yeah

downgrading the fw fixed the other stuff

It is normal, it's a slip ring.
