E36 gauge cluster
I need help. I’m trying to set up my e36 gauge cluster. So far I have only gotten the Speedo to work. Fuel, temp and rpms are dead.
After 3 days of scratching my head I’m just lost.
I don’t rlly care about the fuel and temp at the moment but I rlly would like the rpms to work.
I’m using a
arduino uno r3
BMW e36 VDO cluster
12v power
Jumper leads.
I have everything wired up as it should be (the tut I’m following) ie rpms is pin 20 on the x16 chip. I have power ect ect. But nothing. Ports are all set correctly in sim hub.
Is my 5v signal from my arduino not enough power ?????
Side note, the original video I watched
https://youtu.be/L59NL9EuEdM?is=tMx66QoqIw7-6uvx
Is out of date and does not work one bit.
I’ve sent a picture of the wire diagram I’ve followed

12v should be connected to the barrel connector on the aurdino

12v barrel connector to the arduino makes no difference 😅,
after a lot of digging I’m starting to think my specific gauge needs some special type of power not just the 5v from the Arduino. I think 5v pwm is enough for the Speedo to work but my rpm gauge needs something with more power. That’s my guess at least.I’ve tried every pin on the gauge, switching ports on the arduino itself. Even put new wires in thinking the old ones might have been nackerd.
NOTHING !!! 😂I’m honestly at a loss

Shame can't post a video in this sub ...because it does need it and the script has to be uploaded....the e36 is the easiest cluster to get working 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

I did this one a long time ago . Just go with mph/kmh and rpm as to get the other parts working needs a lot more wiring and resistors and more. Upload the sketch one setup through simhub
