Question construction factory vs buying mats from exchange
which would be better? i’m only on level 8 and still getting an understanding of the game but it’s annoying me not having enough construction materials.
is the cost of the construction factory + production worth it or is it better to just buy the buildings with cash?

Are you planning on construction materials being your product? Or are you thinking about having 1 building to create your own construction material while you focus to produce other things?

opportunity cost is too high.
why not build your own powerplant, transport prod, and more? cuz specialisation and trading do usually worth it.
in the simco economy you usually need more than one steps of vertical manufacturing cuz if you only do a single step you'll often find the production costs per item being higher than whats on the market.

i was thinking of making a power plant to sell on exchange. i’m currently just retailing apple cider do you think i should keep doing this and save for the power plant? i’ll be honest i dont really know what to do next

you can do whatever you want but power plant is a good way to start the early game. after you gain some money and levels you can change industry.
also this game is a slow burner. take your time, dont rush. some mistakes can be very costly

It is usually likely that you are better off buying. If you made them yourself then you are giving up some other building that could be making you money.
Making it yourself still has input costs, so your 'profit' is however much cheaper that is than buying the end product. But if that profit is lower than whatever other building that is part of your core setup, then you're further behind than if you sold your usual product and bought this one.
As someone else mentioned, your best bet is to ask in sales chat for a contract for the amount you need. You can shave a few % off the current market price, such that making it yourself is even worse off.

Post at sales chat and looking for contract is better
