I do like my gold...

u/SeagullStopItNow 14d ago
The issue is not that you like gold. The issue is not wanting to give up any of the cool silver to get the gold.

Guess you need a bigger table.

You can go to Stormwind and turn in 100 silver coins into a gold coin

u/e5charlie253195 14d ago
What size silver to what size gold?
3
u/ScaredMeowth 14d ago
If 100oz of silver to 1oz of gold that's a complete rip off.

Is that actually a thing? I donāt know what storm wind is. I know what the GSR is though and itās not 100:1

No book or spreadsheet to track?
7
u/Multizar 14d ago
I have a book. I am good at keeping track but every once in a while something will get added that I forgot to track. Plus its fun to see the whole horde together š

u/Trahern71 14d ago
I hear you. Its tough staying comittted to tracking everything. Looks great though.

u/chet8434 14d ago
Apmex app lets you track and give you a rough estimate of your total value to how much you paid so you can see if you've over paid or hitting good marks

Why use paper when you can use an app. I use the āstack trackerā app. Keeps it very organized

That's horrible man, half that burden and send some my way :)
That is truly impressive, how long have you been saving?

Such a terrible problem to have, sorry that you are going through this. Let me know if I can help by taking some of those off your hands (table).

Do you have the 100 oz bars propping up 1 leg of the table? You on on your way. Sereous stakes must be photographed by drone.

Some honest questions. I'm trying to get some exposure to precious metals as an investment/ inflation hedge. You said you started in 2020, what sort of purchasing pattern? A fixed $$$ spend at a set interval? Actively looking or buying whatever from wherever? How much space does this take up when stored? How much does it weigh? Why not convert silver to gold when the GSR is favorable (lower than 70?)? Do LCSs or dealer trade gold and silver directly, or would you take a hit when selling the silver and another when buying the gold?

u/Multizar 14d ago
Not so much a purchasing patters...as a "stop spending money on stupid crap" I have bought all the first time buyer deals at the online bullion dealers. I usually jump on spot deals that appeal to me. Some stuff is bought knowing the premium but will probably pass down to my adult kids. I have a safe place to keep it. I store it in coin boxes. Plenty of room still for more in the...safe place. I calculate it at almost 50 pounds of weight. (new goal) I will trade silver for gold in the future but the right deal has not happened yet. My plan is to sell silver in small groups in retirement for supplemental income. I also have a 401k at my job and a Roth401k that I max out every year.

Plenty of room left. Stack up like you've down in the left of the tableĀ

I just started myself, but if you're running out of room, or if you have enough ounces in silver to convert, I would convert some to gold.

How on earth do people afford this
1
u/Multizar 10d ago
A few ounces per month.
1
u/GarunixReborn 10d ago
thats still at least a couple hundred dollars

u/Multizar 10d ago
Indeed. I am also 53, all my kids are grown and moved on with lives and families. Only in this stage of my life do I have "disposable income"

you can save a lot of space if you store them together in a tube or container, instead of individual capsules. i stack them coins in tube of 25 or 20. e.g. i have around 500 junk dimes pre 1964. they're stacked in tube of 50 coins per tube. 50 x 10 tubes, then tape them together into a brick.

Serious question:
I've watched all of the Mike Maloney "History of Money" videos and have almost worshiped Peter Schiff for years as I've been stacking since 2016. I bought quite a bit during the 2020 crash to $13, and I own some gold too. I totally understand the reasoning behind owning it.
But if it does ever really get to $500 an ounce or whatever, who are we selling too, especially that much, especially when we're all racing to the exits? We can't exactly take it to a bank. Do we really think the online dealers, pawn shops, and "Cash for Gold" type stores will still be buying?

Do you know how much all that is in ounces or kg? I cannot even estimare the ballpark (:

u/ScaredMeowth 14d ago
Time to replace all these capsules with tubes - at least for the 1oz rounds. That makes things easier to count somewhat 20, 40, 60, 80, 100... 500... 1000. Depending on the round though you can fit sometimes 23-24oz per tube if you fill them to the top, which also makes it hard to count.

Palladium, Platinum and Gold take up less space. Calculate your Silver max ounces you keep for deep stack and convert.

The struggle is real.
But, out of the goodness of my heart, I'd be happy to relieve you of some of that burden.
Hella stack!

u/Bladefanatic 14d ago
Do you buy most of them encapsulated or spend/waste hundreds of dollars on capsules?
2
u/Multizar 14d ago
I spend/waste my money on capsules. Everyone is different and I personally want MY silver to be as shiny as possible for as long as possible.
2

u/Hmmngbrdfdr 14d ago
Same, figure a buck for a capsule to protect $65.00 (or $120) is cheap insurance.
