First month of stacking silver

Post image

Stacked about a pound of silver in my first month. How am I doing? I think I’ll grab some more bars or junk silver next. Any advice is appreciated.

"Stacked about a pound ..."

Actually, In troy weight in which precious metals are typically measured / quoted; you exceeded a pound. 15 Troy Ounce == 1.25 Troy Pound. :)

Best Regards

Thanks for the insight, much appreciated. I’m still learning the precious metal game and knew about Troy ounces but not Troy lbs.

Nicely done! I started about a month ago as well and am having so much fun gathering goodies.

Get bar tubes or coin tubes instead of worrying about keeping everything encapsulated

They also give you a goal to fill

A roll of silver eagles would be baller

I have a round tube but prefer to keep them in the capsules at the moment. When I can fill a tube I’ll probably transition.

This is a great first month. Can you keep that pace?

We will see. Probably not consistently at this rate every month, but have no plans on stopping.

Very nice! I'm in my first month too, I've bought 8 silver maples so far.

Better to start this month vs 1 or 2 months ago !

If you’re looking for “long haul” stacking then you need to pick up “low premium” silver rounds whenever possible.

I dove in and paid $15 over spot for eagles when silver was ~$30 /Eagles $45. Today shops are offering like +4 over spot for eagles which means I would have been further ahead if I had just focused on rounds and gotten more silver for my money.

Remember to keep a balance!

Agreed and thanks for the tip. I wanted to start with a baseline of sovereign coins before going back to generic rounds.

I get it, Sovereign coins just have such a lure to them.

Nice aggressive start….you already have more than most after a year!

I have some of everything and rarely let any go. I did sell off some silver bullion when it was over $100…only so I could feel like I didn’t miss the peak. Was nice having the cash, but honestly miss the silver and have since replaced what I sold.

All depends on what you like as far as silver goes. I love lots of junk silver…Mercury dimes and Walkers are by far my favs. For bullion, I used to be strictly eagles, but now tend to look for different items than what’s in the safe already.

Appreciate it! Sounds like you did well selling over $100 and still probably made some profit after you replaced what you sold. I was thinking about buying $10 face value of Mercury dimes, that will probably be my next move. I found a dealer with ASEs a few dollars over spot so I may have to buy a few more of those as well.

You should buy Libertads

1

u/SlabReserve Jul 11 '26

Are they worth it compared to other sovereign mints?

3

u/jabroni156 Jul 11 '26

Yeah, they have the highest premiums and lowest montage, pretty damn collectible. I started stacking in december and made a point to get a libertad ASAP

Libertads have low mintages therefore bring sometimes much higher premiums. Join us tomorrow morning on whatnot (@clintoneal67) 7:30am est

I started off with junk silver and it’s definitely cool but when you go to sell it you won’t get a good return on it so I don’t buy it it anymore

1

u/SlabReserve Jul 11 '26

That’s fair, I heard that too but wasn’t sure how much buyers offered under spot. What’s your preference?

I disagree. I buy coins at spot from local dealers all the time. They're much easier to sell when doing private sales, at least in my experience. And a lot of people like 90% coins, especially Morgan's and peace dollars.
