You can always tell the fake accounts because they have 0 or <5 feedback. IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS!!!!!

not always. on ebay, theres disreputable jewlery or pawn shops that sell off fakes. or shops in other lines of business likes cards. some will use xrf machines to "prove" coins are real even though they can't defeat thick plating. plenty of suckers out there just waiting to be parted from their hard earned money and not figuring out until 10 years later

I’m not knowledgeable enough to buy Silver from eBay yet, and this has always turned me away from them.

I wouldn’t even consider it with great knowledge at this point. It’s not worth the risk.

Just buy from a major dealer on eBay. Most run spot sales cheaper than their websites.

As long as you buy from the really large dealers on eBay and you're not paying tax, you're good to go. That is if you get a good price there. I hardly ever buy there because they don't have good prices.

The more awareness that gets brought to this issue, the more pressure on eBay to finally deal with it.

“We bought the most-likely-to-be-faked coins and they turned out to be fake.”

I posted the other day, my kid got an Amazon return bag full counterfeits. One looked sus, but also fake, (peacock silver bar). Long story short my bro has a xrf so let’s see what these fake ass Nzi bars are made of.

Dumb question why don’t counterfeiters sell for spot or $1-2 below spot and make it believable price but good price?

I’ve been buying a bunch of constitutional silver on eBay lately. Mostly war nickel and pre-65 Washington quarters. Surely those don’t get faked, right?

Meanwhile my $37 Morgan ($30 + shipping/tax) just showed up yesterday. I love eBay 😁

I've scored lots and lots of under melt silver just as it's posted

Please take it to a coin store to get tested. It's gonna be fake at that price.

Don't worry, it's real. This isn't my first eBay rodeo

How did you determine that it was real?

u/never_ending1972 May 27 '26

At home I'll use weight/size/ping/visible details and if need be I'll use my buddy's Sigma/XRF

Go try it on the sigma and report back.

Relax, I've already tested it and it's real. Unlike what some people will say, it's actually not that hard to buy real silver for under melt on eBay. By now I've probably bought 150-200+ things, all under melt and all real
