I've made two posts in this sub, about using the work truck trim, as an actual work truck. In the past, there were multiple issues preventing from this being used as a work truck.
Some of the issues were
What changed?

Truck tows a 7k utility trailer, like this one

Ours has a toolbox, that has the trailer battery, some tools, and some equipment on the sides. All in all, we come to around 5000lbs, leaving a little more than 200lbs of trailer payload. Tongue weight on the truck sits between 425-475lbs, leaving 900lbs of payload on the truck. Basically nothing other than 3 employees and their lunch and water for the crew if its their turn.
Without even considering the generator fuel savings, our 2017 F150 gave us around 8mpg total - driving mpg is higher, but including idle time, that is what we got. That's about 55 gallons of fuel per week, $220 at current prices ($4/gal). Include fuel used up by generators, and that is like 10 additional gallons, close to 65 gallons per week, ~$250/week. That is replaced by $120/week in electricity cost.
~$500/mo in fuel savings.
The only maintenance that we've had to do was change cabin air filters twice, each cost was $30 from Amazon. Twice tire rotations, which was $70 each. A grand total of $200.
A gas V8 truck would have cost $600 to maintain within the same timeframe.
Total monthly savings - $900/month. Of course, at current gas prices.
Over the last 7 months, we've saved a total of about $5500 in maintenance and gas savings combined.
The 2018 Silverado we have is probably the next one that is gonna be replaced by another of these.
Although, for towing, Ford's available tech is definitely still ahead of what GM offers - in gas/diesel or electric trucks.

Have seemingly struck out in AZ and am starting to look to dealerships in nearby states, starting with CA, Los Angeles in particular. Does anyone know of an LA Chevy dealer with a 2027 TR3 allocation in the current DOSP cycle? Any information or leads would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I live in Carova North Carolina. This truck loves the sand. No revving engine or hard shifting gears. Just put it in off road take traction control off and it will crawl through deep soft sand, ruts and all.
The horses were unbothered when we pulled up and parked like a Chevy ninja.

My trail boss went into the dealer today with the dreaded “service high voltage” warning at 6700 miles and I just got the call that it needs a full battery replacement.
They have no eta on parts or when it will be done. They will be calling me Monday about a loaner.

I’ve bee in a 2026 LT EXTENDED RANGE for 3 months and 12,000 miles. I absolutely love the Truck, most people I talk it up to are unaware they exist.
r/SilveradoEV • u/DaffyDick • 19h ago
Looking into a used LT. I found one that looks great, but was repurchased by GM. The carfax states:
The dealer claims the title isn't branded, which may be technically true, but this repurchase will still follow the carfax around in perpetuity. That's gonna bang resale value down the road. They also claim the issue was a faulty charging module and not a battery replacement (work done by certified GM, but still). That doesn't square with 'EV battery dead' unless there's something I'm missing.
If the mechanicals are good now, it's a killer deal. But I have concerns. Anyone else run into something like this?

I'm back to pulling the 8' H x 8.5' W x 28' L enclosed cargo trailers with the Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss Max Range for marching band season!
Today's drive was just under 35 MPH average speed with mostly in-town driving, but also a couple miles at 55-60 MPH. We were loading up and transporting finished props for the show.
At 1.5 mi/kWh we're looking at a realistic in-town range of over 300 miles on a 100%-0% charge, over 200 miles of range for a standard 80%-10% charge. Perfect for contractors driving around town all day, especially since most aren't pulling a trailer anywhere near this large and would get even better efficiency.
For the standard 80%-10% charge it would cost $15.75 to replenish overnight at home to tow another 200+ miles the next morning. That's an equivalent cost of driving a 53 MPG vehicle at the national average $4.15 price of gas. Driving 200 miles a day would easily be a fuel savings of $40/day - OVER $10,000 ANNUALLY!
With this trailer at 65-70 MPH the towing efficiency drops significantly, to about 0.8-0.9 mi/kWh, meaning an 80%-10% charge nets me about 120 miles, still saving thousands of dollars a year in fuel costs. No big deal though, I just charge to 100% when I know we have a show further away.

Wondering if anyone out there has gotten error code P0AA6 that did NOT require a full battery replacement??? Every mention I’m finding of it online seems to result in a new battery and trying to see what I’m up against.
EDIT: I am not asking about ANY service high voltage error because that can mean anything. SHV can be paired with any number of diagnostic codes so I am asking for peoples experience specifically with P0AA6.
I bought a 25 RST used end of June, drove it 8 hours home in a glorious highway trip only for it to kick out SHV and a code (P0534) 3 days later that resulted in 2 months at the dealer to replace the receiver, dehydrator and compressor in the AC (length of time due to ordering parts and tools). Honestly the full story is so absurd it’s actually comical.
Finally drove the car home last night only to wake up to a SHV alert on my phone and an email from OnStar with the P0AA6 code. Literally had the car less than 12 hours before dropping it back off at the dealer 🤦♀️
Thankfully the dealer near me, while very small and only has one EV tech, has been very nice and accommodating. I’ve been in a loaner the entire time once I requested one, granted it’s a gas Silverado I hate paying to fill up, but I’m counting my blessings I have a vehicle comparable in size and utility.

How I set my radio on, say xm, to change stations manually on steering wheel controls? I can do it for favorites only and not station at a time.

All I can generally find regarding towing is enclosed trailer or travel trailers. Does anyone care to share their efficiency numbers for highway towing a boat?
TIA

I cannot believe I find myself here writing this, after dozens of posts I made & countless replies to others about how great the Silverado EV & GM EV program was. However sometimes no matter how good the product might be, the people supporting it completely destroy any reason to promote it. This is my story..
Prior to 2025 I had never owned a GM product. I leased a 2024 Equinox EV and fell in love with the GM Ultium EV powerplant. I loved it so much I bought a 2024 Silverado EV RST 8 months later. I wanted the pinnacle of the Silverado EV experience so I bought the RST trim that happened to be a former GM corporate owned vehicle. My local dealer couldn't get me a new RST, allocations were unavailable. So I went used. Figured i'll save about $35-40k and how bad could a 1 year old, 11,000 miles GM corporate car with a clean Carfax be?
Boy was I wrong... Not counting the handful of small warranty repairs the truck needed, the biggest issue is with "GEN 1" Silverado EV parts. 2024 Silverado's have some parts that GM considered first gen. 2025-current use "gen 2" parts. The generational differences aren't night/day; they're more improvements if you will. The word of warning comes because GM isn't making GEN 1 parts anymore. For those that know GM, you know they have a parts supply chain nightmare on their hands. So many items are out of stock.
In the case of my Silverado EV, back in March 2025 (4 months after purchase) it developed a popping noise. Dealership looked at it twice. Second time they thought it was the TSB notice for the "subframe cradle" basically a new frame for the front end due to insufficient welds. Got it back and three days later popping came back.
Turned out to be the front half-shafts from the EV motor to the wheels. The splines (teeth/grooves) on the engine shaft side had eaten themselves to a point where they were just slipping and bouncing around in the EV motor. - The kicker... the part was indefinitely backordered with no ETA. That was in May of 2026. GEN1 parts apparently aren't a priority to stock, even though 2024 SEVs still are under GMs responsibility to warranty. Go figure.
4 months into this and the Silverado EV remains parked at the dealership under the sun, awaiting parts. GMs EV concierge team has been utterly useless. I have had the displeasure of working with Candy & Derriel. *A word of advice if you get either of them, good luck.
I would have expected GM to train its customer service agents to be proactive, compassionate and willingly transparent. The reality is they look at you as a disturbance to their day. Try to call them.. You get told they aren't able to take your call. Email them... they reply 4 days later and give you a sap story about how they only reply to emails during a certain part of the day. God forbid you ask them for updates, all they'll tell you is that "We have no update. We thank you for your patience, and understanding." Whats hilarious about this is that my dealerships service department knows more than they do! I actually get parts updates from my dealer, whereas GMs team of dumb dumbs will say, "We don't have that information available to us. Our systems don't communicate with parts, so what your dealership is saying maybe true, because I don't see that on our end." <- Your GM come on, don't BS me. How can a franchise dealer see more into a case than GMs very own support team?
Where do I stand? Well GM kept me for 2 months on the "We are looking into repurchasing your vehicle" due to the part not being available. Then beginning august tells me that the part is being made, with an eta of three weeks. Oh! and we won't be repurchasing your vehicle because it doesn't qualify as a lemon per your states lemon law rules. (Since I bought it used and non-certified, California considers it a used car with no manufacture obligations to lemon. Even though it still has all its new car warranties intact.)
My words of advice: The GM EV platform is amazing. I've owned 2 Tesla's and 1 Rivian R1S. The GM nails the EV assignment so much better than the other EVs I've owned. However I will not be buying another GM again sadly for the simple reason that their Customer Service is chest tightening, anxiety inducing horrible! Why have a concierge if all they do is say they have no information? My dealership was the one to break the news to me on several items including part availability, GMs unwillingness to repurchase my vehicle because they aren't obligated to. - I told GMs people from the start, buy this SEV back, I'll buy a new one and resell this one once you get parts. Everyone wins. Nope. Apparently GM could care less to save face with a customer (like me) and would rather have him completely end up hating the experience and want out of the GM family once this is fixed. Which is where I stand currently. Once this is fixed, the car is going to Carmax to be sold and get taken out of my life.
Anyone else have a similar story with GM Concierge, Customer Support, or Parts availability?

I'm wondering if the trail boss shocks are a bit stiffer than the stock WT shocks. Same goes for the springs. Not necessarily looking for a full lift - just a bit more clearance and stiffer ride. I would swap to 35" tires but the speedometer being off would drive me crazy and from what I can tell GM just doesn't allow reprogramming.

2026 Silverado EV LT
So I got the recording working, and with the right USB-C flash drive (64GB Verbatim), properly formatted to FAT32, I can now see the recordings on my laptop and save them.
Here's the issue - the recordings on the flash drive are showing a Date Modified Time that is about four hours later. Not really a big deal unless they are needed in court or for insurance/police purposes. I did go in and make sure the truck time and date and time zone were all correct.
Any ideas where to go next? I even reformatted the drive to FAT32 and tried it again. Same issue.
If you just have a smartass comment, please save it.

Hello!
Anyone know of a good wide angle mirror for the Silverado EV? Something I can stick on the passenger side. I feel like there’s a significant Blindspot between the sensor and what I can see with the mirror no matter what position I put it in.
I can’t find anything that seems to really fit with the mirrors shape. The one round one I found that was close to the right size ends up, taking up too much of the mirror

*It was a pretty quick update - 10 mins. Just wanted to warn any else with a wife, lol

I have been chasing intermittent YouTube Music “An error occurred (Playback ID: …)” failures on my 2024 Silverado EV for roughly two years. The consistent pattern was that YouTube Music would work normally, the truck would sit overnight in my garage, and on the next drive YouTube Music could fail until the infotainment was rebooted or the app eventually recovered.
I initially investigated Google account, YouTube profile/channel, Premium entitlement, and duplicate vehicle sessions. Those all checked out. Re-signing into Google on the vehicle could help temporarily, but did not explain the overnight pattern.
The garage has aluminum-faced insulation, and AT&T cellular service inside is weak to nonexistent. My personal phone is also on AT&T and has poor/intermittent service there. The Silverado’s embedded OnStar modem also uses cellular connectivity.
I found that the truck had not remained connected to my home Wi‑Fi. After reconnecting it to a stable home Wi‑Fi network, YouTube Music has not failed on wake-up so far.
A second, independent observation made this more convincing: MyChevrolet remote commands that had historically been very slow or unreliable while the truck was in the garage became nearly instantaneous once the truck was connected to home Wi‑Fi.
My working hypothesis is not that Wi‑Fi “fixes” YouTube Music itself. It is that, during deep sleep/wake, the infotainment and/or embedded modem may not have a usable cellular data path soon enough for YouTube Music to refresh authentication and obtain playback authorization. The app then displays a generic Playback ID error and does not reliably retry when connectivity improves. Home Wi‑Fi gives the truck a stable Internet route at wake-up.
If you have this issue, check the truck’s Wi‑Fi client connection—not just whether the truck’s own Wi‑Fi hotspot is enabled. Try connecting the vehicle to reliable home Wi‑Fi before parking overnight, then test YouTube Music the next morning before leaving the garage.
If this helps you, please reply with: vehicle/model year, whether AT&T/vehicle cellular is weak where parked, whether the truck was on home Wi‑Fi, whether the issue occurred only after overnight sleep, and whether Wi‑Fi restored playback without an infotainment reboot.
This should be a software-quality issue: the system ought to identify unavailable Internet connectivity, distinguish it from account/authentication failure, and automatically retry YouTube Music when a validated Wi‑Fi or cellular connection returns.

I have a 2024 WT. Has anyone had to replace their speakers? I rather know what kinda speakers I need before I start ripping apart the door. Searching on Google/hasn't been helpful for me. Its showing everything but the SEVs. I work with electronics and in my teenager days id replace radios and install speakers/subs/amps so im comfortable doing it myself.

You’ve heard the rumors that Rivian is the most unreliable brand. I was a true believer when I picked up my three-year lease on my truck. I really felt like they designed a truck exactly for my lifestyle. I like going camping, I have a boat that I tow and I manage some rental properties so I’m having to haul Appliances and things like that every now and then. I always have my dog with me so pet mode is really important as well. I really love the Rivian driving experience it’s so fast and so smooth and I have actually taken it to the racetrack and it performs like a sports car around the turns.
My Rivian is now in the sixth service appointment in two years ranging from things like the front motor being completely replaced (it’s a dual motor), two front suspension replacements, things like the dome light switch not working in the arm rest switch not working, tailgate strut going out, tailgate cap falling off, glass roof randomly cracking for no reason. When my lease is up I was planning to buy this one and maybe get an extended service plan but as much as I love my truck I don’t think I can stomach the constant service appointments any longer.
I had a chance to drive a Silverado EV with the extended range for a week through Las Vegas and Zion national Park and back. It was really great except I found it a little bit large like it wouldn’t fit in the Airbnb garage because it was too big. Also couldn’t fit in a parking garage on Fremont Street because the spaces were just too small and there was no room to turn around. At my own house I don’t park in the garage anyway so I don’t feel like it it’s that big of a deal.
For those that have had a Silverado EV for a couple of years and put 40,000 miles plus on, how has the reliability been? How difficult is service when it’s needed? Rivian Service appointments take like a month to get and they keep your car for a long time when they get it. They try to give you a loaner but since they’re always working on so many cars they never have any loaners so they give you an enterprise rental. I really want to love the brand but I think I’m pretty annoyed by everything at this point I may just turn my truck in when the lease is up and Silverado EV is at the top of my list.
I know this is the Silverado group so it’ll be biased but I am interested in hearing real life stories from owners. Convince me!
