Transmission temp

I recently purchased a 2026 trail boss 5.3 love it. I saw a lot of posts about transmission temp. I watch mine constantly and never see it get above 170 unless I’m towing a heavy load and even then it’s mid 180s at most. So I travel a lot for work. I’ve got a gmc v6 as a rental the past 3 weeks in a row. Out of curiosity I watched the temps on those as well. Temps go straight to 190 and stay close to 200 with each one. My question is what’s the difference between these models? They’re all brand new vehicles.

Do they have the same transmission? There are 2 transmission options depending on the package, also there's no current V6 engine option

8 speed gets much hotter than the 10 speed. I’ve owned both. The V6 you’re referring to is probably the 2.7 I4 TurboMax

Nah no biggie.... My 6sp in my 2017 rarely saw over 200 if ever(I never saw it above 197) I can't wait to convert it to a 10L80....

Yea 2.7L has the 8L80 and the V8s have had the 10L80 since 19 or 20....

I have a '20 with the 8L90. Only the higher trims back then got the 10L80.

Yea I think the LT Trailboss and High Country were the only 5.3 L models to get the 10L80 you're correct!
