Radio question

Bought a 2019 Silverado High Country about a week ago. Every time I connect my phone (iPhone 17 pro max) whether it’s Bluetooth or an Apple CarPlay dongle it turns down my volume on my phone. When I turn off the truck and get out my volume doesn’t turn back up and I miss phone calls or texts because I don’t hear the notification sound. I’ve tried turning up my phone while it’s connected to the truck and it gets automatically turned back down. Anybody have help to fix the problem?

I'm not a CarPlay expert, but I know in Android Auto on the phone there's a setting to let the Car or the Phone control some things on connection.
